Thanks for the many Thanksgiving Day well wishes. I simply couldn’t answer them all, but I do value them and wanted you to know how much you are appreciated for sending them.

I made a pig out of myself yesterday and today will repent by cutting way back and removing myself from the leftover temptation by going on an offshore fishing adventure with my wife. It’s supposed to hit 78 degrees here today, it’s sunny, and we have a gentle tropical breeze and calm seas, so it should be a fun day.

I feel almost guilty spending time enjoying life. There is so much anger, strife, bitterness, political polarization, and racism (and I don’t just refer to whites), in the world that many folks have forgotten how to enjoy life. Many are sitting at home griping about most everything and if there is any thinking to be done, it is expended on conjuring up new things to gripe about

One very positive thing about the Thanksgiving holiday is that “thinking people” have time to reflect on all the blessings they enjoy and have enjoyed. I know peace, joy, and love through Jesus Christ and that alone is sufficient for me, but the Lord has showered me with blessings of every type including a happy marriage, terrific kids and grandkids, many dear friends, and a life filled with adventure.

I was telling some visitors the other day about an ancient cemetery located in Key West. Therein lies a tombstone engraved with the words: “The adventure continues”. It also has the deceased’s name inscribed upon it, Captain Bob.  I don’t think that Captain Bob forgot how to enjoy life. I know this Captain Bob hasn’t.

If you need some adventure in your life to get your mind cleansed of the media, political poison, health issues, etc., and start learning how to begin enjoying life again, just remember, adventures don’t come calling like unexpected relatives suddenly appearing from out of town. You have to go looking for them.

God created life to be enjoyed. Live it for Him and realize the great adventures He has prepared for you and are awaiting you. Walking intimately with our Savior is a lifelong journey in which you are being molded into His image – meditate on that one for a while.

Psalm 16:11
“You make known to me the path of life; in your presence, there is fullness of joy; at your right hand are pleasures forevermore.”

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
