I have been inundated by friends and acquaintances asking if I think Trump will eventually win the election. Basically my thoughts on the matter are that the outcome hinges on prayer and repentance.
God spoke to Solomon in 2 Chronicles chapter 7 and His advice has relevance for our nation today and defines what must be done in our country in order to save it. “If my people will humble themselves and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land.”
Practically any Bible believing Christian has read and understands this passage, but what often gets missed is the rest of the story; that failure to do so will result in consequences. This chapter was written about the nation of Israel and God specifically mentioned what the consequences would be for them for refusing His offer: “then I will uproot Israel from the soil I have given them, and I will banish from My presence this temple I have sanctified for My Name. I will make it an object of scorn and ridicule among all the peoples. And when this temple has become a heap of rubble, all who pass by it will be appalled and say, ‘Why has the LORD done such a thing to this land and to this temple? And others will answer, ‘Because they have forsaken the LORD, the God of their fathers, who brought them out of the land of Egypt, and have embraced other gods, worshiping and serving them – because of this, He has brought all this disaster upon them.'”
God was true to His word; the nation began worshipping idols and consequentially its people were taken into captivity and the glorious temple of God was completely destroyed.
I would never dare to say that I know the mind of God, but I do have a heavy heart. My wife and I pray for our grandchildren every day to protect them from the evil that appears to be descending upon them and our nation. With that said I have not given up on humbling myself, praying, seeking the face of God, and turning from my sins in order that God will save our country from those who only desire to do evil all day long.
Our hope lies in the fact that whatever happens it is a sure bet that what Satan means for harm; God intends for good – so that the whole earth may be filled with His glory! The Savior of the world is not Donald Trump, it is Jesus Christ our Lord God, and He will fill the earth and all of creation with His glory at the perfect time. With that said the Lord has used Donald Trump as His effective tool to combat and defeat some of the evil that has been ushered in by those who only want to destroy and I would dearly love to see him continue what he started.
That is the long winded version. I don’t know if Trump can be reelected this go around or not. It depends on prayer and repentance as stated in 2 Chronicles and turning away from idols. And yes, we have idols in 2020, not so much wooden images but wealth and material things, power, fame, and hyper-achieving. The peace, love, and joy that God offers is often lost in the self-centered quest for MORE of the things that will mean nothing in just 100 years and will disappear like the vapor of our lives. Choose those things that will last forever where a trillion years is just getting started!
God is going to punish sin and it is best to ask God to forgive those sins and follow Him while there is yet time. The handwriting is on the wall just as it was for King Belshazzar at his feast: “Mene, Mene, Tekel, Parsin”
Mene: God has numbered the days of your reign and brought it to an end.
Tekel: You have been weighed on the scales and found wanting.
Peres: Your kingdom is divided and given to the Medes and Persians.
That very night Belshazzar was slain and his kingdom was taken over by Darius the Mede. The Lord states He will come as a thief in the night to make things right once and for all
2 Tim. 3:1
But understand this: In the last days terrible times will come. For men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, without love of good . . .
