I read an interesting piece by C.S. Lewis concerning earth, heaven, and hell. He opined about earth and his analysis is quite contrary to the worldview of many of earth’s inhabitants: “But what, you ask, of earth? Earth, I think, will not be found by anyone to be in the end a very distinct place. I think earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, only a region in Hell: and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself.”

C.S. Lewis delves deep with his reflective thoughts and is one of the reasons I enjoy a daily reading of him along with my Bible study. It makes me think beyond the superficial and actually spend time pondering and meditating about the mysteries of God.

Heaven and all its splendor await us and yet there are those who talk of earth as though it is the mother of all life, all good, and heaven.

Give me a break.

The Mother Earth illusion is merely a deception derived from the first inhabitant of earth, Satan, who was forced out of heaven like a falling star.

Lewis indicated if earth is chosen instead of heaven it will be revealed that it is a region of hell; however, if we put it second to heaven it will prove to have been, from the beginning, a part of heaven itself.

As for me I am not near the intellect that C.S. Lewis was, and I like to take things straight out of the Bible versus my mind. The Bible is clear that heaven is a distinct place and the same is true for hell. Those who disbelieve this have no other choice than saying the Bible is not true and a lie. The Bible states that when we die, every last one of us will end up in one or the other which will be entirely dependent upon our faith in Jesus Christ or rejection of him as the Son of God who sacrificed His life for our sins. Heaven is reserved for Jesus followers and hell is a place where those who disbelieve will eternally be separated from God.

As C.S. Lewis wrote earth is not a very distinct place. He indicates that it is what we make of it. I wonder what was going through his brilliant mind when he brought up the question of whether or not it is a part of heaven or hell. He concluded that it is determined by our free will. I think earth, if chosen instead of Heaven, will turn out to have been, all along, only a region in Hell: and earth, if put second to Heaven, to have been from the beginning a part of Heaven itself.”

My reflection on it is that choosing earth over heaven is like choosing death over life. The Mother Earth crowd who believe that everything is good, and heaven is everywhere is a disastrous ideology. God is indeed everywhere and along with Him so is good because He is good. That is not to say that heaven is everywhere, and everything is good. We have a free will to choose our direction of evil or good.

Evil does exist and there are many who reject God’s love and sin willfully and wantonly. And what of hell? Well it is the refuse container that will permanently and eternally house those who are spiritually dead who embrace evil . . .

Earth is the battlefield upon which we find ourselves. Those who join Jesus will emerge as victors and will see heaven. Those who reject the sacrifice of God’s only Son and refuse to change their ways, (repent,) will not be saved by some kindly mythical Mother Earth. Free will means that the choice is ours. Choose wisely . . .

Romans 6:23

For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.
