I have been agonizing over a news article I saw the other day where Muslims in Iraq burned a Christian family alive supposedly because two boys in the family defiled the Koran by burning it. The killings were ordered by some clerics. The violence has spread to other Christians and the situation is grim.
What kind of religion is this? Men, women, and children are ordered to be burned alive by their “holy” leaders? I have been praying for those Christians in Muslim countries who are being slaughtered for no other reason than their belief in Jesus Christ all morning.
They risk their lives in order to worship our Savior in countries where merely owning a Bible could cause them to be tortured and killed. We take our freedoms for granted in this country. Most of us own a Bible, but rarely open it and really cannot remember where it is.
As we move towards the weekend, why not consider going to church, if for no other reason than to ask God to protect those Christians being murdered in countries led by evil men. The Bible is clear that in the last days there will be similar but more widespread persecution of anyone who does not bow down before the antichrist. If you care for a preview of what that will be like, Google “Christian persecution around the world” and read about it or just watch the news.
I want my kids and grandkids to have their chance to live full lives, but I cannot help but to pray for the Lord to come quickly and end this madness. I searched the Bible this morning for some peace and the verse below gave me hope and direction.
As usual the Lord led me out of the abyss through His holy word. That is just another reason that I love him with all of my heart. He does not order us to go out and kill Muslims or even burn their houses down. Those kinds of thoughts come from evil people hellbent and hell bound. God will levy the vengenance on them at a time of His choosing. I cannot help but eagerly anticipate that time. (Not very Christian of me and contrary to the verse below I know, but my flesh wants them to pay for what they did to those poor families.)
Romans 12:21
Do not be overcome by evil, but
overcome evil with good.
Hell bent and hell bound
