Many people have problems with the Scriptures as questions still remain unanswered no matter how much they are studied. Why do you suppose God did not provide more answers? I believe that the biggest reason is that the answers to some questions are too difficult for us to understand. It is particularly difficult since we are not endowed with being able to see into the future and understand God’s overall plans for us and how everything fits together perfectly according to His larger plan.
Additionally we were created lower than God and the angels for that matter. Some things are beyond our capacity for understanding. Just like an ant is created lower than human beings we are created lower than God and cannot understand things such as creationism and eternity.
Some things are just going to have to be accepted upon faith. One day everything will be known to us, for now we see a partial picture. God has provided us enough evidence of His love for us in the Bible and in our everyday lives. I am always amused by those who claim that if God would perform some modern day miracle for them, then they would believe in Him. No, sadly I do not believe they would. Jesus could revisit every generation and still there would be those who would stubbornly refuse His love for them. Think about all of those who saw Jesus walk on water, raise the dead, heal the sick, feed the 5000, make the blind see, be crucified and resurrected again in three days as predicted; He was still rejected by many. In spite of seeing with their own eyes, the people of the day still did not believe. If He were to come again today, CNN would explain it away as some illusion or quirk of nature and millions if not billions would write it off that way.
The older I get, I become more and more weary of preaching to stubborn ears; nonetheless I intend to continue until God takes me out. I finally am beginning to understand though that there are going to be those who just will not come to the Lord in spite of everything I can say or do. I am comforted somewhat to understand in fact that some of these same people would refuse to believe if God Himself appeared to them, and I am not entirely to blame for not having adequate skills to convince them. I accept that it is going to be this way and the Bible emphatically declares that “broad is the road that leads to destruction and narrow is the way that leads to salvation”, but I think it is a tragedy…especially for those who I know and love who have stated to me that they reject the notion of Jesus and consequently face everlasting destruction…It literally hurts me to think about it and it raises another one of those difficult questions…Why are so many people like this????
1 Cor. 13:12
For now we see in a mirror
dimly, but then face to face. Now I
know in part, but then I shall know
just as I also am known.
And now abide faith, hope, love,
these three; but the greatest of these
is love.
