Finally it was time for the final exam. Philosophy 201 was a tough course and the grizzled up professor teaching it was tough as nails and his bell curve was atrocious with few receiving a grade over a C.
Everyone crammed for the exam and dreaded it. At last the morning of the exam came and as the students filed in they saw a question on the board, “Why”? The students got out there pens and writing paper and began writing their responses. Much was riding on this exam as it counted for seventy five per cent of their grade. One student finished in less than a minute, proudly walking up and turning his paper in and he left. The rest of the members of the class were astonished and most assumed that he just gave up. Many spent four or more hours quoting every philosopher from Freud to Thoreau with pages of complex verbiage.
Three days later the grades were posted and to everyone’s surprise the student who finished in less than a minute had received the highest grade in the class with an A+, while most of the rest of the class had failed miserably. The graded exams were left on a table for everyone to see. They scrambled through them to see what the student had written.
There it was; his exam consisted of one word, “Because!”
Many people over complicate the tough questions in life. Jesus explained it best to Thomas one day and really there is not anything more that needs to be said.
John 14:6
Jesus said to him, “I am the way,
the truth, and the life. No one
comes to the Father except through
Me”.
