I have tried to convince many a person about the truth of the Lord Jesus. Sadly I have not always been successful in convincing others that Jesus is the Son of God and He died on the cross for our sins.
This is always frustrating to me and at times makes me feel inadequate almost to the point of giving up. I was thinking about this problem today as I studied the Bible. I was reflecting upon all of the miracles that Jesus performed. He healed the sick, made the blind see again, walked on water, calmed a storm upon His command, fed 5000 people with a few loaves of bread and fish, healed lepers, etc. and even died and rose again from the grave three days later and yet still not everyone including eye witnesses believed. In fact His followers were always outnumbered by disbelievers.

This gives me renewed confidence in spreading the gospel. I understand more clearly now that not everyone will believe when I tell them about Jesus. In fact these same people would probably not believe even if they witnessed Jesus Christ performing a miracle before their very eyes as happened a few centuries back. CNN would explain it away as a hoax and the lemmings would march on into the sea believing every word of it.

Our job as Christians is to spread the gospel, (the “Great Commission”).
If people are not receptive that is between God and them. It should not be a discouragement to us and should not deter us from our assignment.
Jesus stated in a parable that when we sow seeds some of it will fall upon rocky terrain, some shallow soil whereby it will sprout up and then wilt in the sun and others in fertile soil whereby it will flourish. We never know what type of person we witness to, but we should assume that some of them will be as fertile soil and that the angels will rejoice in heaven when they accept Jesus as their Lord and Savior. Not all will become Christians in fact more will not believe than will believe…just as Jesus predicted.

John 11:43

He cried with a loud voice,

“Lazarus come forth!”

and he who had died came out

bound hand and foot with grave-

clothes, and his face was wrapped

with a cloth. Jesus said to them

“Loose him and let him go”.
