I am writing a book about how to succeed. It has been interesting in talking with people as I travel on planes and as I conduct business, as to how virtually everyone that I meet equates success as being directly proportional to the size of one’s portfolio. I do not subscribe to that philosophy, indeed many very wealthy people are miserable to the point of suicide. Can anyone who is miserable be defined as a picture of success? I do not think so.

I believe the key to finding success in this lifetime is to find the will of God for your life, and then staying within it. Maybe you will never be rich, powerful, nor famous, but happiness and peace of mind can and will be yours throughout your stay on this earth provided, you stay within GOD’S will for your life. On the other hand maybe being rich, powerful, and/or famous, is the will of God for your life. If so, happiness and peace of mind can and will be yours as well.

One thing that is clear is that we all have been accorded gifts. We are to use our gifts to help one another, not to hoard for ourselves. The Bible does not state that one cannot be rich and be a faithful servant.
It does state that it is very difficult to be rich and righteous, because of the added temptations that come with it; however many Godly and righteous men had fabulous wealth throughout their lives on earth, Abraham being just one. The important thing is how we use our gifts and the priorities that we set for ourselves in our lives. God has to be number one. Seek Him and pray that He will reveal to you His will for your life. Success will be yours if you find it and stay within it.

1 Peter 7
But the end of all things is at
hand; therefore be serious and
watchful in your prayers.
And above all things have fervent
love for one another, for “love will
cover a multitude of sins.”
Be hospitable to one another
without grumbling.
As each one has received a gift,
minister it to one another, as good
stewards of the manifold grace of
God.
