Do you love God?

Practically everyone has known love at some point. If not a spouse, perhaps a mother, father, brother, sister, son, daughter, spouse, boyfriend, girlfriend, or if nothing else perhaps the family dog, (or God forbid the family cat). Have you ever seriously considered whether or not you love God as much? Would you die for Christ? If our hearts and priorities are right, we will love God above all other things including our very lives. Would you die for others whom you love? I am certain that I would give my life for any member of my immediate family. I feel equally certain that I would also die for my God. I think that one must have a tremendous amount of faith in God to do so. My faith is very strong and I have no doubt that when I die I will join Him in heaven. I believe this life is just a brief warm up for things to come and when we die we will keep going for trillions of years on into infinity. God stated that there is no greater example of love than someone who would lay down their life for someone else, which is exactly what Jesus did for you and for me.

My father loved my mother more than anything. He practically worshipped the ground she walked on. It was devastating to him when she suddenly died at such a young age. He often states that when he dies and enters heaven, the first person he wants to see is my mother. I mentioned to him that the first person I want to see is Jesus and he should feel likewise. He is a strong Christian and I know he loves the Lord, but he stubbornly and steadfastly maintains he wants to see my mother first.
Hmmm…do you suppose that God took her home at a young age because he worshipped her more than Him?

Nothing should supersede our love for Christ. This includes people who we love, our work, hobbies, and material possessions. The Bible tells us, “that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose”, Romans 8:28. It is doubtful here in the United States where we can freely worship our God without retribution that we will ever be called upon to become a martyr for Jesus Christ and actually have to give up our lives because of our love for Him. There is no doubt however that we will be faced with conflicts in our love for the world and all that is within it and God.
Do you really love God above all things? Think about it today…

Romans 8:31

What then shall we say to these

things? If God is for us, who can

be against us?

He who did not spare His own

Son, but delivered Him up for us

all, how shall He not with Him also

freely give us all things?
