I went fishing on my pond the other day and caught a few bass, but it was getting kind of hot, so I was thinking about just hanging it up for the day. The very next cast I caught and landed a huge largemouth bass that weighed in at a little over nine pounds on my little scales. That fish fought for its freedom with a vengeance, going under the boat several times and the drag was screaming almost the entire time as the big fish stripped line off seemingly like there was nothing to it. He performed acrobatics jumping every now and then and shaking its massive head.

Finally, it succumbed. and I was able to get it in the boat. As I held it up and admired it, I couldn’t help but wonder what would have happened if I had just quit. I decided just to return it to the lake and allow it to live to fight another day. It lazily and indignantly swam away and opened its big mouth a couple of times, probably wondering how it had been fooled by the watermelon brush hog lure that I caught it on. I could not help but laugh as I watched it swim away.

I think many folks quit when they are right on the verge of wildly succeeding. When they fail they become more dejected and think of themselves as abject failures. Too bad they couldn’t look around the corner and see what was coming. Unfortunately, God did not set it up that way, I suppose He doesn’t allow us to see the future so we would put our trust in Him with utter confidence that He can and will guide us through the deep morass of sin in this world. If you think about it, you and God make quite the team. We are merely along for the ride and watch in wonder as God works through us to accomplish His purpose.

This works if you have just started a business and have cash flow problems or with finding the right people for the right job. It works if you are with an established company and looking to move up the ladder or closing that big deal if you are in sales. It works on a spiritual level as well. I’ve seen many people turn from their vile sins to become saints. When I wrote my book, Miracle on Luckie Street. I was living a life filled with sin and I detailed how my mother was praying for me constantly. I felt those prayers and God showed compassion on me and turned my life around on a dime.

Keep in mind that nothing is impossible with God. He is still in the miracle business. It doesn’t mean you will get a yes every time because some bad things happen to innocent good people. Why I don’t know, but God does, and I trust Him with my life (And I have seen him save it more times than I remember)). It does mean that there is no other way to obtain a miracle but through Him.

1 John 5:14
“This is the confidence which we have before Him, that, if we ask anything according to His will, He will hear us.
