I sometimes get discouraged and when I do, it shows up in Words for then Day. This site was built to help others cope with this life which is often dark. It doesn’t encourage many if the writer is himself discouraged. How can you write about bright sunny days when it’s pouring down rain?

To be candid I don’t know why God selected me to write this devotional. Sometimes I spend hours writing it and I think it is pretty good and yet not a single reader responds which is usually an indicator that it, like a tree that falls in the forest, and no one sees or hears it. What is the purpose? Satan comes along and whispers, “you put so much effort in writing WFTD each and every day and it is all for naught”.

Yes Satan can make your life miserable if you will allow it. It is his job, but our job is to rebuke him as Jesus did and watch him scurry out of there. We can either be discouraged or encouraged. I choose the latter. I pray to Jesus that He will bring His joy and happiness into my life. It is contagious and seems to brighten everyone’s day. Seeing a smile is so much better than seeing a scowl.

Much of what I write about is what I see as being wrong and sin is slowly destroying our culture. I hate to bear witness to it. But God who sees it all, also sees the good. I believe it is one of the primary reasons that Christ has not returned. I’ve heard people speculate that the rapture will not occur until every person who would have accepted Christ does so. That seems a little extreme, but a God who loves us some day will get fed up.  So if I was unsaved I would get busy and do so as soon as possible.

Every Christian experiences discouragement. I say try to fight it off woth good thoughts and try to stay positive.

Philippians 4:8
“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable–if anything is excellent or praiseworthy–think about such things.”
