I was looking through some old correspondence this morning and came across the following letter listed below. I don’t recall ever receiving it, but the words of encouragement were enough to make my day for sure. But it is also a reminder of the more somber note of facing God Himself which for all of us could come at any time.
Bob,
Your recent devotional on debt forgiveness hit a chord. It caused me to think about the day that I will stand in front of Our Father to give an account of my time on earth. I tremble at the thought of that meeting, mindful of a lifetime of sin. I can only pray that God will remember some of the good that I have long forgotten or maybe never even realized..
At your meeting with God, I can imagine you accounting for your sins at the forefront of the conversation. He will likely acknowledge His disappointment, and He will take it from there. He will share with you mystic visions of how your “Words for the Day . . .” spiritually touched and redirected your readers’ lives. He will show you suicides that were reconsidered, drugs that were denied and faithful acts inspired by your daily devotionals. He will watch you cry with emotion, as you realize the appreciation that you have from so many — the appreciation and love never shared with you. Then He will smile as if to say, “Well done my good and faithful son.” I can then imagine you’re saying, “But what about all that other stuff . . .” And He will look at you and say, “Let’s call it even.” Then He will walk back to His heavenly throne … leaving the gate open behind Him.
Amen, Amen. And one more THANK YOU to load on your barge to paradise.
Col.3:13
Forgive as God has forgiven you
