I often hear the expression of someone being a good and Godly man or woman. I heard a sermon this morning whereby our pastor quoted some verses written by the Apostle Paul when he was in prison awaiting his execution.
Paul is one of my biblical heroes. I can only imagine what the cell he was being held in was like. I picture a dark, dank place and Paul with scraggly hair and in dire need of a bath. And yet Paul was known throughout Israel and in particular the gentiles as a good and Godly man. Paul had no fear of death and His faith in Jesus is a testimony to Christ being the Son of God. He was persecuting and stoning to death Christians until he encountered Jesus on the road to Damascus and Jesus blinded him for a few days. Paul turned abruptly on his heels and became “born again”. I suppose not seeing and then seeing again had something to do with his belief system. To me Paul had unswerving faith in Jesus Christ, there is no doubt about it. He obeyed God’s commands as best he could from that moment on.
To me this is solid proof for Jesus being the Son of God and Messiah. The miracles performed by Jesus were excellent but look what happened when He was crucified. To a person all His disciples who had seen miracle after miracle ran away and hid. It was not until he arose from the dead and paid a visit to them that they believed in His being the Son of God. Paul did not spend that much time with Him except on the road to Damascus. Bur after that experience he was all in too. He was a good and Godly man from that moment on.
Now we on the other hand we are to believe upon Jesus Christ without having any face time with Him. He told the disciples that they believed because they had seen Him and then blessed those who would come later and believe in him without seeing him face to face.
I had a doe and a newborn fawn in my yard yesterday. The fawn looked like it could hardly walk and I assume had just been born. The fawn’s mother showed love as she patiently allowed it to suckle. In that instance I knew that Jesus Christ was watching too. I imagine God as getting as big of a kick out of it as I did. To some people even those who are reading this post you would look upon those deer as just that, two deer (a mama and a fawn). I saw the love of a mother for her offspring, and it surely one of God’s finest creations.
I believe Paul was a good and Godly man and over 2000 years later I get confirmation that Jesus is who He said He is by watching a mother and baby deer, humming birds, largemouth Bass, turkeys, and whatever else shows up on my farm, or the creatures in the ocean. If that doesn’t make a believer out of you look to the heavens you need to look at it differently. Seeing is not believing.
John 20:29
Jesus said to him, “Have you believed because you have seen me? Blessed are those who have not seen and yet have believed.”
