Ah, it feels good to be back on the farm in Mississippi. I didn’t realize how much I missed this place. I’m recuperating here and the doctor says it will take about six months to get back to where I was before my accident, provided I can continue to progress as I’m doing now. I don’t think it will not take that long, but he has all the fancy titles and certifications after his name.
In the meantime, I have completed the outline for my new book. It is my sincere belief that this book will provide hope for those of you who are suffering particularly brain related injuries. I have learned that the brain is mysterious and not much is known about how it functions. A few discoveries here and there are helping us in understanding some things about it but there are simply miles to go in solving this problem.
One thing is sure and that is God is working through us to achieve His purpose. Prayer helps to fight Satan off and rob him of his victory, (our death). Since my accident, I have taken a much deeper view of prayer and the more I learn the more convinced I am that it is not only helpful, but essential in situations like mine. This time a month ago I was paralyzed and could not speak. I could not even open my eyes and then the Lord answered your prayers.
I still have things I want to do in this life. God has lifted His veil and decided to use this episode for His glory by extending my life.
“Why me?” I ask; “after all there are plenty of folks who deserve to live a longer life.”
I think it has something to do with being transparent. When I sin, I tell the world. Most people hide it in a closet and act like it never happened. I would rather sound the alarm and tell you not to do this because the consequences are too grave. I know it is effective because I have hundreds of letters telling me how something I wrote and forgot about changed someone overnight.
God conducts a multitude of projects He wants us to accomplish. I took for granted that I would live a long fruitful life and deserved to retire I can imagine God saying, “Wait a minute buddy. Not so fast. I put you on this earth for MY pleasure and not your pleasure. I’ll give you an adequate amount of time off but remember your purpose and work on it every day.”
Hmmm . . . If only I could talk to Him face to face and see if my analysis is correct.
In Isaiah 55:8-11 This is where you have work to do. You see, My thoughts aren’t anything like yours. I think differently about everything that happens in your life. My way out of your troubles is different than you would too.
