I’m heading down to Costa Rica for a while, so I got a friend to keep my lab for me while I’m gone. I already really miss him, and he misses me. When I left he was crying and whining, and trying to get out of the pen to go with me and it was hard to leave him there. We have not been separated in almost a year and a half.

He is a good old dog and always has his tail wagging when I show up at his pen every morning. He is genuinely happy just to see me and always seems to be in a good mood whether I’m in a surly mood or not. Wouldn’t it be great if people had dispositions like that…

This old dog loves to run along with me. He follows me all over my farm trotting alongside my side by side and checks out everything of interest. When I go to town he jumps up in the back of my truck and puts his snout to the wind. Life is grand for him; he doesn’t use drugs, or drink alcohol and has no need for them, he just likes a good cool drink of water, a good meal at suppertime, long naps during the day, and a good night’s rest at night.

I wonder why human beings aren’t similar in nature. God has created dogs to be what most people consider to be lowly creatures, but I wonder if God doesn’t have a special place for them in his heart.  The Bible states that God created us for fellowship with Him. Dogs don’t compare but they are full of love and want to be with us all the time. God is full of love. We should be like my dog and jumping for joy just to enjoy His company. I will miss my dog and look forward to seeing him upon my return. We don’t have to wait to see God, however. God wants fellowship with you all the time not because of what or who you are, but because of who He is.

He is loving
He is giving
The best He can give is Himself.
He has given you the Holy Spirit so that you might have God living within you.  Not in a desert sanctuary or a stone temple, but in a living intimate way.
You can know Him, experience Him, and feel Him.
He made the universe for you.
He created you for Him.
Enjoy Him.

Job 12:10
In his hand is the life of every living thing and the breath of all mankind.
