My doctor diagnosed me with non-alcoholic cirrhosis. It is not caused from drinking alcohol, but is even more dangerous. There’s no cure. Apparently, it permeates the healthy cells of the liver and wreaks all kinds of havoc. The liver controls, some 4000 bodily functions, so it is an understatement to say that it is vital. Questions are not if I’m going to die, but how and when? But isn’t that the prognosis of us all?

My brother used to tell me he didn’t care about such things. He said if he just got into heaven, even if he was the garbage man that had the most menial job in heaven, he would be quite happy. In fact, he said he’d be as happy as a lark to just arrive alive, as they say in Florida. How can one arrive alive if they’re dead? Through Jesus Christ.

Galatians 2:20, I am crucified with Christ. Nevertheless, I feel yet not I, but Christ lives in me. And the life which I now live in, the flesh I live by the faith of the son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.

I find it ironic to call this organ a live-er because it seems that die-er is more appropriate.

It infuriates my wife to mention me dying, but it seems quite natural to me. A good friend and reader told me this morning that I live like the gate was left open and planned to slide in sideways when God calls me home.

Hmmm . . .

According to the Bible, we don’t have to slide in or be a garbage man. Just walk right in and look and you will find Jesus through the faith of God. You and I are going to live forever in paradise. I don’t know about you, but I intend to enjoy every nanosecond of it.

Matthew, 7:7
Ask, and it will be given to you; Seek and you will find; Knock and it will be open to you; For everyone who asks receives, and the one who seeks finds and to the one who knocks it will be open.

My friends, the gate stands open. Just walk on in. You are an heir to the throne.
