2023

I have noticed a small but steady decline in subscribers and am receiving hardly any feedback from Words for the Day posts over the past year and am facing the reality that I may not be relevant anymore. Perhaps I have exhausted what I can add and am merely repeating things said over and again and it is just not that interesting anymore.

June will mark 25 years of uninterrupted posts five days a week which comprises several million words written about various subjects over a quarter of a century. Based on feedback through the years I know there have been haters and those who do not agree with my belief system, but many more who wrote to me expressing they benefitted from it. Both have made it well worth the effort I have put into it.

I am consoled by the fact that I still have far more subscribers than most churches have members, but like them, I’m steadily losing ground. It reminds me of erosion on my farm, it starts slowly but gains momentum with every rain. A local church here experienced the same thing and ended up with about 25 people, but recently they replaced the aging pastor with someone younger and attendance went soaring through the roof. Perhaps I have said enough, and God wants me to shut up. Candidly, I don’t know the answer to that.

I have been transparent about my life and my war with personal sin throughout my life to demonstrate that when you sin you are not alone. And I don’t hold back about the direction of the country towards evil. I have always strived to base my Words for the Day posts on guidance from the Holy Spirit and the Bible and stand by it whether anyone likes it or not.

At any rate, I have decided to give it a rest and this will be the last Words for the Day for the near future. I hope this decision is not a flesh thing and comes from God. I do intend to seek God’s guidance and try to determine if He wants me to continue or to fade away. At the end of the day what God wants is what is important to me. I’m told that my pending rotator cuff surgery will prevent me from typing or doing much of anything for a month or so anyway, so it is a good time to step away and pray about it.

Okay if it is God’s will that I end Words for the Day I want to thank those of you who have stuck with me these years, I have developed many friends all over the world and I treasure you all. I love you all and hope to see you, hear from you, and fellowship with you when we reach heaven together.

So no WFTD on Monday but please remember if you desire to peruse more WFTD entries don’t forget that there is a database dating back to June of 2000 through today on my website. (I did not capture the ones written before June 2000 because I didn’t develop the software that would enable me to write, send out, and store entries). This search device has search options on it whereby you can find WFTD subjects that appeal to you through keywords and categories as well as a chronological date range option.

Goodbye for now my friends.

Mark 12:30
“And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength; this is the first commandment . . . There is none other commandment greater.”

Have a great weekend and go to church this Sunday!
