Our family was discussing NFL star quarterback Tom Brady and his amazing success, and I mentioned that his wife was a witch. It was as though I was speaking in a foreign tongue. They thought I might have said another word that rhymes with witch and I had to explain I was referring to witch as in witchcraft before they finally understood.

They all immediately smirked, and I could visually see the disbelief on their faces, so I sighed and told them to Google it. Several articles appeared and immediately confirmed what I said. This was one of the shorter versions:

Tom Brady Says His Wife Is a ‘Good Witch’ and Her Rituals Help Him Win

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady shocked attendees at a charity event in Boston this week after informing the crowd his wife uses witchcraft before his games. Brady, who recently won his sixth Super Bowl title, told the crowd his wife is a self-proclaimed “witch.”

While getting his playoff beard shaved for charity at Gillette’s World Shaving Headquarters, Brady said: “You know I’ve learned a lot from my wife over the years.”

“She always makes a little altar for me at the game, because she just wills it so much,” Brady said in the CBS Boston video. “So she put together a little altar for me that I can bring with pictures of my kids, and I have these little special stones and healing stones and protection stones and she has me wear this necklace, and take these drops she makes, and I say all these mantras, and I stopped questioning her a long time ago.”

Everything that Mr. Brady described his wife doing is paganism, it is witchcraft,” a moderator on a radio show said.  “What he described was witchcraft, and he said, ‘My wife is a witch.’ His wife said, ‘You married a witch; you married a good witch.'”

Ugh – there is no such thing. It is all ultimately centered on calling upon powerful wicked demons (fallen angels) and Satan himself to give you power.  I became a witch or warlock in New Orleans through a mysterious set of circumstance and have seen it work many times first-hand as I called upon and utilized supernatural powers that were downright frightening. I used to tell people I was a good witch, but I wasn’t. I even cast a death spell on someone who had wronged me. The one thing I can say without hesitation is that witchcraft works! You can believe it or disbelieve it, but the Bible is clear about it. I praise God I was delivered from it.

Whether the intent is to revere or worship “mother earth,” the elements, or the angels, and even if one genuinely intends to do only good, the reality is that, ultimately, there is no distinction between white and black magic because they both worship something other than God. It’s frightening to think that the adherents of white magic are unknowingly praying to and beseeching the same god that adherents of black magic are — Satan.

White magic is described as “good” magic, as opposed to black magic, which draws upon the powers of evil beings. Opinions vary as to the differences between black and white magic, ranging from the idea that they are two names for exactly the same thing, to the belief that they are completely different, especially in goals and intent. The Bible does not differentiate between “good” and “bad” magic. Magic is magic as far as the Bible is concerned.

Throughout Scripture, in both the Old and New Testaments, all forms of witchcraft are in violation of God’s law and are condemned. Pharaoh’s magicians used their “secret arts” to try to duplicate the miracles done by Moses and Aaron. Secret arts are the ceremonies or rituals sorcerers use to accomplish their magic, involving incantations, spells, magic words, charms, amulets, etc. The apostle Paul condemned Elymas the sorcerer, proclaiming him a “child of the devil” who was full of “all kinds of deceit and trickery” and was “perverting the right ways of the Lord.”  The apostle Peter likewise condemned Simon the magician. Nowhere in the Bible is a practicing sorcerer or magician portrayed in a positive light.

Scripture says that God hates all magic, whether it is white magic or some other kind. Why? Because it doesn’t come from God. Satan deceives people by making them think white magic is beneficial. Satan pretends to be an angel of light
(2 Corinthians 11:14), but his desire is to ensnare the souls of as many as he can. The Bible warns against him and his evil tricks. We should best remember: “Be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

The Spirit clearly says that in later times (which we are now in) some will abandon the faith and follow deceiving spirits and things taught by demons. Real spiritual power only comes from God, from a right relationship with Him through faith in Jesus Christ, and from the Holy Spirit who lives in the hearts of believers.

Robert Johnson was perhaps the greatest blues guitarist ever. Legend has it that he met Satan face to face and traded his soul for his almost supernatural ability to play blues guitar. The song, I Went Down to the Crossroads, is about that encounter. He was murdered by a jealous husband at a honkytonk at a very young age. Did he trade his soul to the devil for his relatively short-lived fame? Are others such as Tom Brady doing the same? If anyone trades their soul for some vapor of fame, money, achievements, or power while on this earth versus eternity in paradise it is a poor exchange.

I cannot know someone else’s heart and I’m not saying Tom Brady or anyone else has traded their soul for anything. I do know that witchcraft is evil. Repentance will result in forgiveness. I pray for those who are trapped in this form of evil that they will repent while there is yet time.

Rev. 21:8
But the cowardly, the unbelieving, the vile, the murderers, the sexually immoral, those who practice magic arts, the idolaters and all liars–they will be consigned to the fiery lake of burning sulfur. This is the second death.”
