Yesterday and today have been frustrating days for me. I like things to work and nothing seems to work. Yesterday I went sword fishing and my electric reel had issues with the power that required teeth grinding frustration to make it functional. Then I had issues with my outriggers and then my depth finder. Fishing is supposed to be fun, huh? This morning doesn’t appear to be starting off much better. My Internet was down, and after working on it for an hour, I had to use the hot spot on my phone to send/receive messages and then at a critical moment my phone went dead.

I was so angry I snapped a pencil in two pieces and when my wife said good morning, I snarled at her and gave her a hateful look. That didn’t work out too well either.

I hate things that will not work properly, especially technology. And if the ordinary day to day problems in life don’t get me down, not to worry, the entire country has stopped working properly and those determined to ruin it seem to be winning the battle.

Frustrating – Frustrating – Frustrating! Some people actually like to fix things and obtain great satisfaction in taking something that is not working properly and making it work. I’m not among them. I just like for things to work. When I put the key in the ignition and turn it, I want the car to start. When I push the button for the coffee maker, I want it to start brewing. If I boot my computer up, I want it to come up.

Is that asking too much?

I wonder if I might be happier with no cell phone, computer, television, radio, newspaper, or modern appliance and could live like my ancient ancestors. I remember when televisions first came out and I thought it was great and then fax machines, computers, the Internet, e-mail and instant everything. Now I dislike all of it. I hope all of that is gone in heaven. I desire peace and serenity and going for long walks in the cool of the evening in a lush beautiful forest beside a gorgeous river loaded with fish and enjoying the Lord’s creation where EVERYTHING WORKS. That is heaven.

Well I feel better now that I’ve vented a little. I hope it didn’t put you in a foul mood during my personalized therapy session. All of this reminds me of one of the best verses in the Bible. It was written by the Apostle Paul and he knew that most spiritual warfare is fought right in our minds whereby Satan is constantly attempting to discourage us and trying his utmost to make our lives miserable. He told us to focus on Godly things and not secular.

Phil. 4:8

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable – if anything is excellent or praiseworthy – think about such things.
