I heard the other day that one thing that is guaranteed is that there are 3 types of liars in the world, politicians, media people, and weathermen. At any rate it is a sad commentary upon our nation that lying has become accepted in our society.
Ugh . . . It was a firing offense to lie to me when I was a CEO. I felt strongly then as now that if someone will lie to you it is near impossible to ever believe them again. If you cannot trust someone to tell the truth, then why employ them?
So, should we fire politicians, media, and weathermen? Why not? What good are they? Firing politicians can be done through voting; getting rid of media is easy enough, quit watching them; and weathermen, I don’t suppose they are lying rather just inept, perhaps we should replace them with a framer’s almanac.
Call me a cynic but I’ve found in life that liars will do about as much as we are willing to allow. The problem is that we continue to allow it. We have become desensitized to it just like the nudity and sexual content that is on television, the internet, and in movies and the violence that is everywhere.
God takes a dim view of lying and in fact it is one of the Big Ten (Commandments.) You shall not bear false witness. Most people don’t even know one or maybe two of the Ten Commandments much less observe them. Our God wrote them in stone with His finger. He is holy and He is righteous and there is a price that will be paid. Those who have not accepted Christ need only look at that price He paid for our sins to see how seriously He takes sin.
It doesn’t depend upon the definition of what “is, is,” as Bill Clinton tried to play with words. He should have said Yes, he had sex with that woman and then asked for forgiveness from God. But being the politician that he is, he lied and it really didn’t hurt him, especially with women. Just like Obama telling us we could keep our doctor and our health insurance prices would go down. He just got more popular and very rich. Don’t believe the lies and enrich these people or keep them in power. Only simpletons do that!
Proverbs 14:15
“Only simpletons believe everything they’re told! The prudent carefully consider their steps.”
