December 19, 2019 – Click here to listen

I went with a friend not too long ago to a correctional facility, (prison,) in Okeechobee to speak with the inmates.  This man volunteers to go there every Wednesday to teach Christian leadership. He is a graduate of the Naval Academy and is well-qualified to do so. He shared his outline for the program with me and it is called Global Priority Solutions and consists of the following segments:

  • Listening
  • Resolving conflict
  • Understanding people
  • Restraint
  • Ethics
  • Ownership
  • Transparency
  • Respect
  • Debt
  • Teamwork

His motto is: “Inspiring success by transforming one life at a time”

As I was thinking about this today it came to mind that this might provide ideas for some goal setting. I always set my goals for the upcoming year and this one is no exception. As I was reading the outline for his program, I was thinking of my own shortcomings in many of these areas.  Most all of us can improve our lives if we are determined to get better at what we do and how we live.

Listening more than talking, resolving conflict peacefully instead of with bluster, taking time to understand people to better see how to interact with them, restraining my flesh and allowing the Holy Spirit to dominate my life, adhering to the highest ethics, taking ownership instead of passing the buck, being totally transparent, showing respect for others at all times, viewing debt as an enemy that Satan uses, and finally working together instead of being a lone wolf -all are worthy pursuits.

I pray for my friend in successfully transforming many lives at that facility. And I pray that some of us in the free world will benefit this morning from this wisdom as well. And perhaps use it to be a part of helping to transform the life of someone who desperately needs it . . . Selah . . .

Isaiah 28:29

All this also comes from the Lord Almighty,
whose plan is wonderful,
whose wisdom is magnificent.
