I was thinking this morning about how many words I have written for Words for the Day. A little math calculating writing an average of roughly 1250 words 5 times a week for 20 years and it came out to approximately 6,500,000 words. What could I possibly have been thinking when I embarked down this road?
I just wanted to help people try to make sense of this life. I go to the Bible daily whether or not I’m happy or sad. It helps me take measure of this world in a way that God intends. As I’ve written many times, I often miss the mark and don’t follow the advice it freely gives and suffer the consequences of my folly, but not always. Sometimes I stay the course and receive the blessings of so doing.
I’ve often heard it said that we have a soul, but in reality, we are a soul that has a body. The important thing to remember is that your soul will live forever. I’ve seen the glassy eyes of dead people staring into oblivion after the light of the soul departs. It is just a blank look and the shell is left.
Viewing such an occurrence is sure to make one think of what’s next. The Bible has plenty to say about that. I love my Bible study and learn so much every day. I never tire of it. The reason I started writing Words for the Day is that so many people I knew never read the Bible and seemed to be muddling through life trying to make it solo. I figured that perhaps if I wrote of things in my life that the Bible helped me understand and make better decisions it might help others.
Through the years I have received thousands of letters some filled with hate and others with love. Has it been worthwhile? Yes, it has been very rewarding to me; I can’t speak for those who read it. I just hope that at least some will grow closer to God because of it. Many write and say they don’t agree with all that I write. That’s okay I don’t agree with everyone 100% either. My interpretation might be off, but the Bible is the whole truth, and nothing but the truth. I do try to relate everything back to the Bible. If you disagree with God’s Word, then that is a more serious thing.
If I could impart one word of advice to everyone in the world, I would ask them to read and study the Bible daily. To my way of thinking nothing could be more important. Zillions of years from now our souls will still be alive. We were created to live forever. This place is hardly a blip in regard to forever, but oh so important as to how we will spend those days either with God or eternally separated.
Matt. 11:29
Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
