So notorious drug lord and cartel leader El Chapo was found guilty on all counts and was given two life sentences to be served in Colorado’s super max prison. There he will remain in solitary confinement living in a small cell 23 hours per day and only be allowed out of his cell to exercise for one hour daily. I read that he will have no access to the outside world for the rest of his life.

He was the head of one cartel and accumulated 14 billion, just imagine all of the others who profited from his operation including his murderous cartel members, and those judges, politicians, police, and military personnel that he bribed. I’m sure the gross revenue far exceeds $14 billion. So how did he accumulate so much money? By selling drugs like meth, heroin, fentanyl, weed, and cocaine to Americans. He also headed up a huge human smuggling operation which delivered young girls to depraved sex perverts. In other words, he became the supplier of evil to our fellow Americans.  There is no shortage of customers for his products and obviously there is huge financial reward.

And what about the murders and torture? Approximately 40,000 people were murdered in Mexico just last year; most were cartel related. How many died in drug related deaths here in the United States? And yes, this evil is being exported to American soil. A very sophisticated cartel owned meth lab was discovered in Georgia just in the last few days.

So, President Trump wants to build a border wall to keep this evil out of our country. Senator Lindsey Graham wants to use El Chapo’s money to build the wall. That is a great idea but sadly will be an impossibility unless Democrats lose in a couple of years. Before you get too worked up about political talking point propaganda just objectively look at the death and destruction that cartels visit upon their own people and ask yourself if you want bodies and body parts strewn all over the streets of America like they are in Mexico and elsewhere each morning. Democrats oppose anything the President tries to do regardless of the desires of the people. 72% of Americans recently polled are in favor of building a wall to keep these dangerous people out, but it doesn’t matter one whit to them. They figure if Trump gets the wall, he might get reelected and their power is their desire.

El Chapo is out of the mix but he has already been replaced and it’s business as usual. The insatiable desire for drugs will continue until those using them recognize the futility of trying to find peace in evil. In order to have free will, we necessarily must be given the choice to decide if we want to follow the lusts of this world or God. Unfortunately, too many opt for evil.

At one point I was seriously addicted to drugs. When I tried it that first time it was wonderful and far beyond any good feeling I ever experienced. The second time was wonderful too, but not quite as good as the first. I kept taking more and more to get less and less of the high I craved. Eventually I just took it to keep from shaking to pieces and there was no high. My experience with following Jesus was just the opposite. The first time I experienced Jesus was wonderful. The second was even better and as time as went on, I discovered I love Jesus more now than I did the very first time.

The answer to the problem of evil lies in the goodness of God. Too bad so many will try heroin, meth or cocaine, but not God . . . Satan’s deceit is a stumbling stone to so many. Lord help us see clearly.

Jer. 9:6

You live in the midst of deception; in their deceit they refuse to acknowledge me,” declares the LORD.
