I get some letters that are real doozeys on occasion, and yesterday was a good example of another. So, this person was writing in response to my comments on abortion. I don’t have room for the entire rant, but below are some examples of the gist of it – Please note that in an effort to make it understandable I corrected many of the grammatical errors it contained:
“The truth is that in reality abortion is not that bad and the only times the Bible mentions abortion it actually gives instructions on how to perform it . . .
Are you really a god loving man? . . . Your ideals are nothing but your own and they come from your self-imposed idea that “babies don’t want to die”. What a foolish concept. Aborted fetuses have no concept of wants. You know what sucks? Being born into a family that doesn’t want you / can’t afford you / was forced to have you.
With all due respect I hope you see the message God has sent you and re write the archaic mentality you carry. I must unsubscribe from your list, there is no place for people like you in our society lest you repent your evil and accept THE TRUE teachings of God.

Okay I don’t know about you, but this made me mad. My response:
“You, are an idiot. Face it! I seriously doubt that you have ever read the Bible and you know nothing about what it says about this subject. It is sad that you twist it, but that is what Satan does and you are certainly under his sway. The Bible states that ALL life is sacred, and we should revere it, and what you are saying is straight out of hell.
Do you think you are God? Well you’re not and you don’t get to determine who gets to live and die; that’s God’s job, not yours, or Hitler’s, or anyone else that thinks babies are better off dead than being brought up in a bad situation.
I was brought up in a home devoid of love but today I put my family up against anyone’s. We are all happy, successful, and filled with love. You would have aborted me because YOU think I would be better off dead because my parents didn’t want me? Tell that to my three sons, their wives and my seven grandchildren.
You sound so bitter and full of hate I doubt you can stand yourself. You condone the slaughter of babies and set yourself up as being self-righteous at your own peril. May God have mercy on your sick soul. Please do unsubscribe, I have no patience with morons like you, though I will grit my teeth and pray for you.”
I know – I know that was a little harsh and Jesus would never have said such a thing to anyone. I love Jesus, but I’m not Jesus and it is evident. So, in a little while this person wrote me back saying:
“I actually don’t believe in God. I just wanted to pretend to be another dumb Bible believer. How dumb can you be to trust a book written by men in Rome? You know that the entire Christian Bible has stories stolen from older texts and is also filled with stuff that was added by the leaders of Rome. The Christian Bible is nothing but a controller piece. The reason they want us to have so many kids is because; a society that is busy raising children will not have time to educate themselves against the things the government is trying to do. With uneducated parents the children will get sent to work and grow the economy just like their parents.
Don’t you see that it’s all designed to suppress you while also getting out as much value as possible? It’s simple and effective. And people like you defend your warped brainwashed perspective like nothing else.
What a sad pitiful existence you must have, being constantly “judged” by an invisible Man in the sky who has the singular say on if you spend the afterlife in eternity or in paradise. I don’t concern myself with that nonsense. Instead I live every day to try and make others around me happy and more aware. In life I don’t have a single enemy other than religion. Religion, specifically Christianity and Islam (same God for all I’m concerned) has caused so much death of actual life that I laugh at how upset you are about life that hasn’t even been born and would not survive outside the womb.
I’m not an idiot and I don’t need to prove that to myself. I’m sure you aren’t an idiot either. You’re just another brainwashed minion of the cult called church.”
At last we get to the truth. This person is an atheist and hasn’t read the Bible, has no idea how it was actually written, by whom, or where – (written by 40 different authors, written on 3 continents, in three languages). These warped ideas come from within and Satan abides there. I ended the thread with the following:
“Ah . . . I knew you hadn’t read the Bible. Do yourself a favor and click on the link below my name on the email I sent you. I used to be an atheist and was just as full of myself as you are. If you are too afraid to watch it I understand. If you are not an idiot quit acting like one.”

I hope it does some good. After two decades of writing WFTD it would seem that I would get tired of letters like this, but surprisingly it makes life interesting. It also reminds me of the time I was an atheist and how hopeless I felt and how I’m so happy that I picked up and read the Bible once and for all for myself. Without having ever read it, I used to make stupid arguments about the Bible too. Today I literally cannot remember how many times I have read it or how many hours I’ve spent studying it and I never get tired of it. It is the most amazing document ever recorded since creation. It is the holy inspired word of God.
I’m working my way through reading it cover to cover again as we speak, and have spent weeks in Matthew alone. God opens up more and more daily. I urge you to give it a try. Begin reading in Romans and then go back to Matthew and read through the entire New Testament. Then go to the Old Testament and read it through and continue on reading the New Testament again. Use a Bible like the Living Translation, (my personal favorite, though I have read most all translations). Take your time and listen to the Spirit of God.
To avoid more letters please know that I’ve asked God to forgive me for calling this person an idiot and a moron and I have prayed for them without gritting my teeth. I’ve asked God for the millionth time to help me temper down my temper. If only I would listen and become a doer and not just a hearer . . .
