So, a young man 26 years old, walked into a church during their worship service and murdered 26 innocent people including men, women, and children and wounded another 20.
Few details are available, but the gunman led a very troubled life. He was court-martialed in 2012 for two counts of assault on his spouse and assault on their child. He received a bad conduct discharge and confinement for 12 months. And was kicked out of the Air Force for beating his wife and child. According to his classmates he was weird and creepy and an outspoken atheist who hated Christians. He had liked several atheist pages on his Facebook page and crusaded in favor of it. One of his former classmates wrote: “He was always talking about how people who believe in God were stupid and trying to preach his atheism.”
It is said that this guy had no known links to terrorists, so I assume he just hated Christians.
As soon as I heard what happened I immediately began praying and asking God to heal those who were wounded and that no more would die, and I prayed for the families, friends, and the community who must now deal with this tragedy.
President Trump and others felt similarly and immediately asked for prayers. Speaker of the house Paul Ryan tweeted: “Reports out of Texas are devastating. The people of Sutherland Springs need our prayers right now.”
Sadly, celebrity actor and star of House of Cards and former “Star Trek: The Next Generation” and “Stand By Me” actor Wil Wheaton immediately tweeted in response: “The murdered victims were in a church. If prayers did anything, they’d still be alive, you worthless sack of sh–.”
Nice…
Netflix celebrity Chelsea Handler blamed the tragedy on Republicans tweeting:
“Innocent people go to church on Sunday to honor their God, and while doing so, get shot in killed . . . What country? . . . America . . . Why? . . . Republicans,”
Of course, multiple Democrats called for immediate gun control and blamed guns and the NRA for the tragedy.
Wow . . . Who do you think is to blame for this tragedy?
Hmmm . . . a nearby resident stopped the carnage by grabbing his rifle and returning fire saving several lives in the process. The gun didn’t shoot itself at anyone, a person did. I don’t suppose guns are the reason for it. This killer could have mowed them down in the parking lot with a rented truck or blown them up with a bomb, or hacked them to death with a machete if he wanted to.
I seriously doubt that this shooter was a Republican and don’t see how Republicans and/or Paul Ryan are to blame. We had 8 years of Obama, Pelosi, and Harry Reid and fared no better.
Well who is to blame?
Hmmm . . . We, as a society, are to blame. This nation has become hostile to God. We have removed prayer from schools. We have removed the Ten Commandments from the public square; the same holds true with displaying a cross or nativity scene, or praying in public. God is ridiculed, Christians are ridiculed and persecuted by our government and many leaders in society. Obama smugly declared to the world as though he was proud of the fact that “We are no longer a Christian nation.”
How does God feel about our nation turning its back on Him?
God does not want anyone to perish. 2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow to fulfill His promise as some understand slowness, but is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance. But His patience will run out according to God’s word and when it does there will be a day of reckoning. Listen to the second part of this passage: But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar, the elements will be dissolved in the fire, and the earth and its works will not be found . . .
The perpetrator who murdered these folks while they worshipped in church needed Jesus; Wil Wheaton needs Jesus; Chelsea Handler needs Jesus; Congress, and this entire nation need Jesus.
And I hate to disappoint you Wil Wheaton, but we need prayer. You need prayer. The hate, bitterness, and murder in this world evolves from sin which rules over this world and brings death. But through Jesus, God allows eternal life for all who put their faith in Him.
The answer to this problem is not more gun control, giving Democrats the Whitehouse or the Presidency, or putting Nancy Pelosi in as Speaker of the House and Chuck Schumer in as head of the Senate. We need revival in this country. Pray for it and pray for those who are so full of hate and bitterness that they will turn back from their sin.
Ezekiel 33:11
Say to them, ‘As I live!’ declares the Lord GOD, ‘I take no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but rather that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn back, turn back from your evil ways!
