An attack by a gunman with an assault rifle on some 25 Republican Congressmen peacefully practicing for a charity event left the majority whip, Steve Scalise, fighting for his life right through this very minute. He remains in critical condition, and his doctors are having problems stopping the bleeding. He needs more surgeries and our prayers.
I ask everyone reading this to please take a moment and pray for him by name. Lord we ask that you intervene and Steve Scalise will survive this event. We ask that You will be with Steve, his physicians, and his family. Almighty God we know that You are the Great Physician and no task is beyond the scope of Your power. Please intercede for Steve at this very moment and heal him completely. Amen!
The man who did this to him and the others wanted to kill as many Republicans as he could. He was a Bernie Sanders supporter and his Facebook rants indicate that he was as anti-Trump/Republican as they come.
Incredibly when asked if the man was deranged, or if this attack was politically motivated, many airhead pundits said he was merely deranged. What the heck! Is the truth ever going to be publicly stated in the media?
Give me a break. Of course, it was politically motivated. Prior to the attack the guy asked if those practicing were Democrats or Republicans to ensure he killed Republicans. He was part of what I call the Loathing Left Terrorist Brigade whose hatred for the outcome of the election has resulted in the use of extreme violence to change it.
Just this morning another Congresswoman Claudia Tenny received a tweet saying: “1 down 216 to go.” Another came out accusing Scalise of racial bias, a claim that was proven false over a decade ago. And yet another blogger said: “Too bad they didn’t finish the job.”
There are more of these terrorists out there simmering with hate and this isn’t over by a long shot.
This event was predictable. Kathy Griffin holding up a facsimile of the decapitated head of Trump being defended by the left, A New York play depicting the assassination of Trump being heralded as a “brilliant masterpiece”, an incessant drumbeat by CNN, the NY Times, Washington Post, and others issuing fake news story after story. Canada’s Free Press wrote: “Today’s shooting of Congressman Steve Scalise (R-LA), and others including an aide and two Capitol Police officers is the result of Democratic hate speech toward President Donald Trump and majority Republicans . . .
“This hate speech that has been going on since Donald Trump was elected . . . it gets their voter base agitated and this is what happens as a result . . . When liberal leftists support the assassination of President Trump on stage what do you expect to happen . . . Hate speech and actions incite this kind of violence. It is time for Democrats like Reps. Maxine Waters and Nancy Pelosi, Sen. Chuck Schumer, Barrack Obama and Hillary Clinton and many of the talking heads at CNN and MSNBC to shut up.”
Shut up? Never! They are too filled with hate.
I was watching the coverage yesterday and happened to notice my little dog Coopie. He was contentedly laying on a blanket beside me on the sofa with his soft warm eyes trained on me completely oblivious to anything going on in the world. He has a continuous supply of water in one bowl and food in another. He is lavished with love and praise and gets petted anytime he chooses to make himself available, which is often. He sleeps most of the day anymore and has not a care in the world.
I thought of Vonette Bright telling me about her famous husband, Bill Bright, who founded Campus Crusade for Christ and reached more Christians with the Jesus film than anyone before him. A reporter asked him what “kept him up at night.” He replied that nothing kept him up at night. He said I am a slave and I leave all the big problems to my Master. I just do as I’m told and leave everything else to Him. She said that even during terrible crises in their organization he wouldn’t even so much as show a tiny sign of worry at their crisis meetings. He would just lean back in his chair and smile as he listened, and sometimes even fall asleep.
We need faith like that in these difficult times. Evil cannot be rationalized away, nor understood by mere humans. Don’t even try. It is God’s job to worry about Satan and to defeat Him. This is not to say that we should not do our utmost to further the Kingdom of God daily; it is to say that we just need to do our jobs the best we know how and leave the rest up to him. We need to be like Coopie. Trust in our Master and just have faith that He will take care of us and everything will be all right.
