So the media has now pounced on two more shootings of black men, one in Tulsa and one in Charlotte. Initial reports indicate that one was high on the very dangerous drug PCP and refusing repeated orders to stop trying to reach into his car, and the other when confronted by the police, jumped out of a car with pistol in hand. So here come the professional demonstrators with another opportunity to burn, loot, and create anarchy.
This news trumped the recent New Jersey terrorist attacks and the Minnesota mall stabbings, the massive migrant push to enter America, a history teacher demonstrating how to stomp on an American flag, America’s surrender of the Internet; more murders in Chicago, rapes, a push to legalize pedophilia, and other news stories that sour our minds. It seems there are plenty of stories around just in America to disgust us.
When you go abroad it actually is much worse. So what is a Bible believing evangelist minded person to do? Should we be discouraged? Sad? Looking for the Lord to appear in the sky and Rapture us away to heaven?
It depends upon if you look upon this news as the cup being half full or half empty. Did you ever hear that bad can stimulate good? I discussed this with an inmate in a prison just last weekend. He was a Christian and wanted out so he could begin a prison ministry. I told him that it was like knowing where to look for gold inside that prison. I said, “You don’t have to wait until you get outside, you have plenty of opportunity in here to keep you busy until your release date.
It is time for revival and a great awakening in America. I’ve found that most people need a crisis in their lives to wake them up and realize that they need God to get them through this world and the eternity that follows. We certainly have plenty of crises, fear, chaos, and even panic in America.
This means we have a tremendous opportunity to reach the lost for Christ. That is exciting and is some good that comes out of the evil that demonic oppression brings. Our attitude should be optimistic, because we know we are afforded a terrific opportunity to lead others to an eternity of peace through Jesus Christ.
I used to believe that prison ministry is our last great opportunity for true revival. Those men and women are in crisis and most have nowhere to look for relief, but up towards heaven. They are more receptive to hearing the Gospel than any other group that I have found. As the world continues its downward spiral, this evangelistic opportunity will only continue to expand outside the walls. Get your sword, (Bible) in hand and join the battle. There is no danger of being laid off in this profession . . .
Matt. 9:37
He said to his disciples, “The harvest is great, but the workers are few.
