So today I leave to Cleveland to share my testimony with some 1100 people at a prayer breakfast tomorrow morning and then 300-500 for lunch in Akron before heading to the airport for my trip back to Florida where I will arrive back home around midnight. I ask you to pray that the Lord will speak through me and many will receive Jesus and draw close to him.
What a great opportunity the Lord has afforded me. I cannot ever get over my good fortune in that regard. Yesterday even as I spent the day moving into my new home in Sarasota Florida I booked speaking event after speaking event both in person and on national radio. There is not a single day of my life that I do not go to prayer and thank Jesus for giving me opportunity after opportunity to witness to others about Christ.
It is incredible to me that folks don’t witness to others. I’ve lived a rich full life and have never found anything that exceeds the feeling derived from leading someone to Jesus. One doesn’t have to do so in a formal setting, nor is it necessary to have some riveting, dramatic story. Jesus simply preached love. Many folks don’t have friends and family who really love and/or care for them. I see the pain, loneliness, and lack of hope all of the time in ordinary people who are just trying to get through life as best they know how. I witness to waitresses, people I talk to on planes, hotels, stores, on my farm; virtually everywhere I go.
You can too!
Jesus lays the groundwork and prepares people for an encounter and then when it’s crunch time, He will give you the words that each person to whom you witness needs to hear. A couple of weeks ago I was getting ready to say grace when I noticed our server standing there. I told him we were getting ready to pray and asked if there was anything I could pray with him about. He teared up and told me he was having heart problems. I prayed for him then and every morning at breakfast during my 3 day stay. I made it a point to witness to him every day. He was blessed and so was I.
Please don’t keep silent when you receive an opportunity like that. Why miss the blessing? Realize that someone, who otherwise might very well never hear about the saving grace of Christ, might just spend eternity in heaven with their loving Savior if you will just share with them for a few minutes. Trust me they will be appreciative that you care enough about them to ask if you can pray with them. They will also be thankful when they get to heaven and look you up.
The Jesus Alliance website has a very nice presentation for leading to someone to Christ. Go to www.thejesusalliance.org and take a look. Anyone can do it. We just need to care enough about Jesus and lost souls to speak up.
I would hate to know that I could have said something, but didn’t and it resulted in disaster. I wonder if God was expressing His views on the seriousness of this matter in the Scripture below. Selah . . .
Ezek. 33:6
‘But if the watchman sees the sword coming and does not blow the trumpet and the people are not warned, and a sword comes and takes a person from them, he is taken away in his iniquity; but his blood I will require from the watchman’s hand.’
