I met Justice Antonin Scalia when he came to North Florida to go turkey hunting. I found him to have a razor sharp mind and a sense of wit that was readily noticeable. He was quite affable and easily approachable and after only a few minutes of conversation I liked him immensely and it seemed like I’d known him all my life.
Like any thinking American his unexpected death was a source of great consternation for me. Without question the United States will suffer no matter who gets confirmed by the Senate. He, like Ronald Reagan who appointed him was just one of those people that cannot be replaced.
The thing I like the most about Justice Scalia was his insistence upon sticking to his beliefs no matter what. Simply put he told it as he saw it, and if every other member was lined up against him he didn’t seem to mind. He didn’t dislike his opponents; in fact he was good friends with raging liberals such as Justice Ruth Ginsburg.
The Bible commands that we live lives similar to Justice Scalia. Paul told us to preach the Gospel “boldly” and we are instructed to try and get along with everyone as much as we can.
What this country needs is more people who are less politically correct but that don’t act like jerks about it. We need people that tell the truth; anything short of that is from Lucifer.
The first direct revelation that I ever received from the Lord was that: “The world is ruled by money and not by conviction”. Think about it. The problem is that politicians, business people, church leaders, media, the arts and entertainment industry moguls, and other leaders within our culture don’t want to speak the truth, because if they do the segment of society affected by it will hurt their entity financially. It is why politicians who disagree with Planned Parenthood’s policy of selling baby body parts will not vote to withhold funding. It isn’t about conviction, it is about money and getting re-elected.
Yep, we need more people like Justice Scalia. He will be sorely missed.
Matt. 5:7
But let your ‘Yes’ be ‘Yes,’ and your ‘No,’ ‘No.’ For whatever is more than these is from the evil one.
