I attended a philanthropic roundtable “get to know you” dinner with a dozen or so people last night. We all shared our stories of who we were, what our interests are, and our career. Everyone there (save me) was wealthy beyond measure and the stories of their lives and businesses were fascinating.
The host had read my bio and wanted me to elaborate about my early days of addiction, etc. (which I’d conveniently left out when I shared). So I elaborated a little about my early days and dysfunctional life and then how I became a Christian through reading the Bible. I went into my current calling by the Lord to establish the Jesus Alliance to unite the body of believers in order to be more effective in combating the evil overtaking the United States and indeed the world.
I was sitting next to an uber-wealthy lady who was a Christian and she told me that it was refreshing for her to be around someone who was real. She went on to tell me that her world was filled with those who worshipped their money and didn’t give God a solitary thought. She had homes in West Palm Beach, Greenwich Conn. New York and elsewhere and she said the worst was an island in New York.
She told me she could not even find one person there who was a believer and that when she and her husband stayed at that home, they did not socialize aside from their family. She had told me she was in a Bible study in West Palm and was friends with Vonette Bright and other Spirit filled friends that I know. So I asked her if she couldn’t at least establish a beachhead and maybe start a Bible study in NY and she replied she had tried, but not even one person in that exclusive community was willing to even talk about it.
How sad it is that God has blessed so many with so much and yet they not only refuse to give anything back, but will not even make any time whatsoever for Christ in their busy lives. Now let there be a social gathering put on by one of their cronies with cocktails tinkling, and they will make time for that event even if they have to crank up one of their G5 jets and fly in for it.
God addresses this over and over throughout the Bible. There will be a day of reckoning that will result in total separation from God and everything good forever unless someone can reach them. I prayed for them this morning.
Just imagine what would happen if there was a revival in this elite community and they used their billions to glorify the name of Christ and preach the Gospel and disciple the nations all over the world. One need only look at those who love evil in our society including George Soros and other billionaires to see what kind of impact can be had when billions are used to finance an effort.
Sigh . . . Alas we cannot raise enough money to make but a small dent in comparison, and I hate to admit it but they are winning the war for the hearts and minds of the population, especially our youth.
God is in control and one day He will judge the entire world. Those who were too busy and/or too tight fisted to give back to the Lord and could have helped make a difference and didn’t will pay a steep price. That is why I prayed for them this morning. They are like fattened sheep going to slaughter.
How about you? Though you are not likely a billionaire, are you giving what you can? Time, resources, talents? If not, pray about it. What better time to make a contribution to the Jesus Alliance or charity of your choice as we draw near to the birth of Jesus Christ. He is watching each of us as we prepare for this celebration of His coming to the earth to save us. Are we more interested in buying gifts, attending parties, eating fine meals, and closing that last business deal before the holiday season is upon us, than we are in sharing His love with the world.

Proverbs 5:21
For your ways are in full view of the LORD, and he examines all your paths.
Isaiah 10:3
Now what will you do in the day of punishment, And in the devastation which will come from afar? To whom will you flee for help? And where will you leave your wealth?
