I’ve always been impressed with those among us who have the gumption and fortitude to claw their way out of difficult situations only to succeed wildly. I know how difficult it is to succeed when one begins with practically nothing and it is not an easy road, but someone has wisely said, “No worthwhile accomplishment is ever easy”.
In order to succeed wildly we must not sit idly by and wait for someone to deliver a hundred grand to our doorsteps while we lie on the couch munching chips and swigging soda, No, the harder and smarter we work the more successful we become.
My life’s verse Phil. 4:13 describes God’s plan best: “I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me”. Some misinterpret this verse by a mile. It doesn’t say that Christ will do all things for me, rather “I” can do all things. We must do our parts, often outworking everyone around.
Also anyone can understand that this verse is not actually referring to “ALL” things. If I wanted to establish a drug cartel and prostitution ring obviously God would not bless that. It means all things within God’s will for our lives. This pertains to the righteous things in life.
Many people just want to get rich and get rich quick. Ughhh! This is a terrible goal. Most people cannot handle great wealth. True enough it does solve the problem of financial security, but it brings on an entire host of new problems that are very difficult to surmount. One of the worst is that it brings too much temptation with it. When you can afford anything you want in life, often the choices one makes are not the wholesome ones.
Also once you reach a point that you have everything that money can buy, it can be a disturbing mental hurdle. Many people ask, “Is this all there is?” In fact the answer to that question is that no material thing can give you what is really important in life such as peace, joy, and love; that only comes from Jesus Christ.
And too, great wealth invariably brings family, friends, acquaintances, and people you don’t even know to your doorstep, and they all have one thing in common; they want your money and will come with every conniving plan under the sun to try and obtain it, and woe to you if you turn them down.
Though the world is obsessed by material things, success is not measured by a portfolio in God’s eyes. He looks at the heart. Do you love Him with “all of your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind”; and, do you “Love your neighbor as yourself.” If so, it will be readily evident in the way you conduct yourself and it begins with humbly giving credit to God for blessing you with what you have and focusing on Him and not the world.
Our Worldwide Ministry 2nd Sunday Service at Honey Lake Church this coming Sunday will feature none other than the top National Sales Director for Mary Kay Cosmetics . . . Jamie Vrinios.
Jamie’s’ journey began with nothing. She was disowned as a young single mom from her parents and family, left alone and survived on government assistance. But in spite of the parental and family rejection she went on to build an organization of thousands of women and men who under her leadership, also came to know financial freedom beyond their wildest dreams. With a compassion that comes straight from her love for God and people, Jamie has devoted her life to helping others achieve extreme success in every aspect of their lives. Her national best seller book, Warrior Magnificent, has helped millions discover how to overcome doubt and fear . . . seeing their dreams become a reality.
Here is a sample of what she has to say: “How many times are we are so close to embarking on the NEW, but then our enthusiasm turns to doubt. At first it seems everything is going great, but then life happens. It might be the people around you who don’t get it or support you. Maybe your finances are being squeezed because you are investing financially in your dream. It could even be a physical symptom of pain. Whatever it may be, these parasites start to tell you why you can’t do it, and they give you all the “logical” reasons why it will fail. Maybe you decided that since things aren’t happening fast or instantly, it is a sign from God that your dream is not meant to be. But “warriors” are passionate about where they are going and are most definitely not interested in what the majority may think. They are consumed with living out their magnificence and inspiring others to do the same. The warrior gives energy. There is a presence that exudes from them — a confidence and a countenance that they know they are destined for something MAGNIFICENT.”
I urge you to come to Honey Lake Church this weekend (the service begins at 11), and hear her first hand. We are fortunate to have such a renowned leader share her success and love for God with us. She achieved her goals, rose to the pinnacle of success, made the money and all the toys, but didn’t forget God along the way. It is a difficult thing which she has done, but when God is involved . . . Well nothing is too difficult!
