So yesterday I flew into Los Angeles and I was amazed at how arid it was in California (where they are experiencing a four year drought). It is readily evident everywhere one looks, and in fact last night at dinner I asked two separate people out here how I might pray for them and both said to please pray for rain.
Coincidentally I spoke with a friend of mine in Colorado and he told me that they were facing unprecedented rain and in fact he was bringing in heavy equipment to fix the road leading into his ranch. He wanted prayer for the rains to stop.
This morning I will be speaking at a governmental leader prayer breakfast. As you know California is a very liberal state and not all of the leaders that have been invited will be receptive to hearing about Jesus Christ. (Now I know a little of how David felt heading into the lion’s den.) That event will be over around 10 a.m. and then I’m off to a luncheon to speak to some local business leaders about running a faith based business, and then my movie producer friend is going to pick me up and he and I are heading up the coast to meet with a potential donor for the Jesus Alliance and have dinner with her tonight. Tomorrow morning I fly home, get home around midnight and Sunday morning prepare for our second service Sunday with Jack Parker and our tribute to Terry Warren.
So I ask you to please pray for me, but my prayer is not to ease my burden but to intensify it with more opportunities to serve the Lord. Soon enough I can rest in heaven, but until then I want to continue to fight the good fight.
I encourage you to do something worthwhile for the Lord while there is time. Through rain or shine there are vast fields of human souls ripe for the harvest. You have a wealth of talent to offer and God whose eyes constantly search the earth is always watching us and how we deal with the opportunities that He provides. Will He say “Well done, my good and faithful servant. You have been faithful in handling this small amount, so now I will give you many more responsibilities. LET’S CELEBRATE TOGETHER!”
Wow! Imagine attending a celebration with God Himself! I want to hear Him sing a song at our celebration. I bet His voice is truly amazing and beautiful beyond comprehension. It’s gonna happen! Have a great weekend and go to Honey Lake Church, (or somewhere) this Sunday.
Zeph. 3:17 – For the LORD your God is living among you. He is a mighty savior. He will take delight in you with gladness. With his love, he will calm all your fears. He will rejoice over you WITH JOYFUL SONGS.”
