As usual I could not sleep on Tuesday night, so I decided to work on the Jesus Alliance. I’m doing a Power Point presentation that encompasses all of our plans. I worked on it for about five hours and then tried to save it and it would not save. I renamed it and tried everything I knew to get it to save, but it was all to no avail.
The last time I tried to save it I received a message that stated to reboot the computer; I did and I lost my five hours work about as fast as it took me to write this sentence. At that precise moment I heard a voice that hissed “Bob!” I heard it very distinctly and was startled by it because I was in my hotel room alone, (I thought).
The hair on my neck stood on end and I whirled around to see who it was and no one was there. I made a small change to the presentation and saved it and it worked perfectly. I believe with all my heart that it was a demon that hissed my name and that he was gloating over the fact that I lost my five hours of work. It is not the first time I’ve heard it and in fact I heard it several times as I was recovering from surgery. It is always the same; “Bob!” is all that is said and it sounds the same every time. It always accompanies satanic attack.
Many people do not believe in demons, (fallen angels), but the Bible plainly tells us that they are there and we do battle with them daily. I believe that the more one does for the Lord the more they attack.
About one-third of the American adult population believes the Bible is the actual word of God and is to be taken literally word for word. This percentage is slightly lower than several decades ago. The majority of those Americans who don’t believe that the Bible is literally true believe that it is the inspired word of God but that not everything in it should be taken literally. About one in five Americans believe the Bible is an ancient book of “fables, legends, history, and moral precepts recorded by man.”
I was reading all of the arguments about gay marriage and a reporter from the New York Times stated that Christians should change the Bible and take out the part that states that homosexuality is a sin. Can you imagine a society taking out the parts of the Bible that it does not like and perhaps adding parts they want recognized as God’s law?
To do so is to assume a position of making one’s self God. As for me it seems inconceivable that a God who is powerful enough to create everything visible and invisible; someone who is omnipresent, (everywhere at once like a television or cell signal), omnipotent, (all powerful), and omniscient (all knowing) would make any mistakes in His only written communique with the creatures that He loved enough to offer His one and only Son on the cross as a sacrifice for our many sins in order that we might live with Him forever? No!
Did God make a mistake when He said that demons exist? That marriage should be between a man and a woman? That all life is sacred? No!
Some tout that the Bible is old fashioned and it should change with societal mores and customs. This reminds me of the followers of Baal. It was acceptable during this time to sacrifice children on the scalding hot arms of the idol Molech that was heated red hot by a roaring fire. They didn’t have abortion in those days, but nonetheless innocent children were targeted by demonic societal customs.
Society in the Roman times thrived on violence. Each week they gathered and watched gladiators fight to the death and Christians being torn apart by lions and other wild animals. It was totally acceptable and society loved it like we love the NFL today.
God gave us the Ten Commandments and other laws to help us discern right from wrong. We are not to change them, modify them, or ignore them. We are to believe and obey. The Bible, (God’s laws) will never change, though societies come and go and be all but forgotten, God remains the same.
Rev. 1:8
“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty.”
The Bible states that folks don’t want to follow it because they prefer darkness over the light. They enjoy their sins, but unfortunately for them they will perish in them.
Psalm 102:26
Even they will perish, but You endure; And all of them will wear out like a garment; Like clothing You will change them and they will be changed. “But You are the same, And Your years will not come to an end. “The children of Your servants will continue, And their descendants will be established before You.”
