My son who is no prude went downtown Tallahassee to eat on Friday night with his wife and some friends.   He told me he was amazed at the FSU students that he saw gathered in the streets. He said that most were already “hammered” drunk and staggering around by 7:00 which was long before dark. His wife told me the female students were scantily attired and it was so bad that she even took photographs. I looked at them and they were repulsive. It immediately reminded me of that Bible verse in proverbs 11:22 – A beautiful woman who lacks discretion is like a gold ring in a pig’s snout.

Recently several local and national television outlets ran specials on the spring break months in Panama City this year. Drugs and alcohol were rampant, college student females were dressed in tiny bikinis, many ended up topless and staggering around the beach stoned senseless, and some were even engaging in sex on the beach in front of the masses, The men acted like crazed dogs drinking, drugging, fighting, and even shooting each other. The last count I heard was two dead and seven shot.

Just last week a feature story came out about some recovering wounded vets many of which were paraplegics and amputees that were in Panama City to enjoy a retreat put on by some kind folks in the city who are eternally thankful for their sacrifice for our country and honorable service. They were spit upon and cursed, (including their wives); they had bottles thrown at them and the American flags that they had displayed were urinated upon and other flags were stolen by a group of fraternity punks from Zeta Beta Tau from the University of Florida and Emory.

What has happened to our young people? I was looking at my 9 year old twin granddaughters who came to Honey Lake this weekend to celebrate their birthday with some of their little friends. Will they end up in Panama City Beach and elsewhere getting hammered, stoned, and all of the rest? I trust that their upbringing will save the day for them when the evil comes.

It is no small coincidence that millennials are leaving the church in record numbers. Many did not get grounded in going to church and God and the sacrifice of Jesus means little to nothing to them now that they are adults. Overly permissive parents let their kids do whatever they want with little Godly guidance and discipline and now the results are in.

The Bible is clear that kids cannot raise themselves and must be raised up in the Lord by Godly parents. We are told that if we do so, they will not leave it when they grow old. Proverbs 22:6 – Train up a child in the way he should go, Even when he is old he will not depart from it. Of course these days little regard is given to the Bible and it is portrayed as being written by old men in a different time for a different time and it is now totally irrelevant. It is lost on them that the “old man” who wrote those words King Solomon just happened to be the wisest and richest man the world has ever known or ever will know.

Unfortunately an entire generation has ignored this sage advice and if you want to look at the root cause of what is being described above, we need only look to their parents who allowed their children to succumb to the peer pressures of evil in this world. I used to say that there is no such thing as bad kids, just bad parents. I don’t believe that carte blanche anymore; however it is pretty doggone close to being accurate the overwhelming majority of the time.

I saw one young girl interviewed. She was with several guys and was very pretty. She seemed inebriated and the reporter asked her what she thought that her parents might think of her behavior. She didn’t hesitate and said, $%#& my parents. All her friends laughed and she walked away with them. I wonder if they saw this piece. How it must grieve them now.

I’m often asked if we are living in the last days. Read the verse below and decide for yourself. God is withholding judgment as we speak, but the times are grave. Yesterday at church our attendance was as low as I’ve seen it in some time. Statistics indicate that church attendance is declining fast. How odd that at the very time we need Jesus Christ the most that we forsake Him and His worship service for the pleasures of this world. The Bible tells us two things about our current situation. God is patient and does not desire for anyone to perish – 2 Peter 3:9 – The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance; however He will not be mocked Gal. 6:7 – Do not be deceived: God cannot be mocked. A person reaps what he sows.

2 Tim. 3:2

But realize this, that in the last days difficult times will come. For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, boastful, arrogant, revilers, disobedient to parents, ungrateful, unholy, unloving, irreconcilable, malicious gossips, without self-control, brutal, haters of good, . . .
