So today I head out to Oklahoma City to speak at their Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast sponsored by the CBMC. The breakfast will be attended by the governor, the mayor, the attorney general and a couple dozen other officios, and while all that is great I’m more interested in the 1500 or so folks who will attend (of which nearly half have never asked Christ to take over their lives, or even made a commitment to Him). Actually I will speak five times in two days to over 2000 folks including a couple of times to Spanish audiences that will necessarily be translated.

I’m really pumped up about it and looking forward to this opportunity with great anticipation. I’ve been praying non-stop for its success and hope you will too. Right before my surgery I spoke (along with some others) at a women’s prison and at the end of the event some 700 prayed the sinner’s prayer. Hallelujah! Now the first full week of my recovery from surgery and I will get another opportunity to reach more lost souls. Hallelujah!

Then on top of all of that I will be the recipient of a guided tour of Hobby Lobby and their CEO Steve Green is going to allow me to see part of their Bible collection that will be displayed in Washington D.C. (It is the largest and most valuable Bible collection in the world including the one held in the Vatican library.)

So maybe you would like to participate in something like this but you don’t have a life story as dramatic as mine. Nonetheless you do have a story and guess what I would not be speaking at all if it were not for all of the folks who organized and put these events together and for those who prayed for months about it, or for those who put up their hard earned money to help finance it, or for those hundreds of folks who sponsored tables in order to invite their unsaved friends to attend.

My point is that Jesus said that “the fields are white and ready for the harvest, but the workers are few”. We, the body of believers, need YOU to join the team and stand up for Jesus Christ.

This weekend was our special second Sunday service. We had a marvelous speaker, (Kevin Cross). I asked Kevin how long he had been sharing his testimony and he told me 20 years. I looked at this young man and exclaimed, “Twenty years! Why you barely look 20 years old!”. It turns out that he got into trouble when he was 21 years old and then found Christ and immediately began following Jesus and hasn’t turned back during his entire young life.

Wow! I didn’t start sharing my testimony for 14 years and I lament that to this day. Just think of all of those folks I could have introduced to Jesus in 14 years. What a waste!

How about you? Got any regrets? If so, it’s not too late to start praying, witnessing, discipling, and helping others today!

I told Kevin my desire for the rest of my life is to finish strong and then as I stand before those pearly gates hear God tell me, “Well done my good and faithful servant, now come on inside and let’s get something to eat!”

Thanks! I’ll have a big plate of spaghetti and meat sauce, some farm raised sun ripened tomatoes, and green beans with some sweet tea please . . .  I’m so glad that I heard Jesus knocking and even more so that I got up off the couch and answered the door.

Rev. 3:20

‘Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will dine with him, and he with Me.
