I’ve been fasting and last night the fast ended and it was time to eat. I’m in Texas with a buddy and he suggested a barbeque place called “The Hard Eight”. My stomach has probably shrunk to the size of a golf ball but last night it got extended to the size of a grapefruit in one enormous meal.
Not good!
I almost threw up on the drive home and even at this moment that food still feels as though it is permanently lodged in my throat. It was one miserable night I tell you.
As I pondered this today it reminded me of how we fight some major sin in our life and sacrifice greatly and right when we have obtained our freedom we fall like a goose in a hailstorm to temptation
To tell the truth I wasn’t really hungry last night, but being in that rough and tumble barbeque place with live country music was like a pied piper to me; (it’s a wonder that I didn’t have a beer – Just kidding).
The thing about temptation is that it is so tempting . . . When being setup things appear as though they would be so much fun, but after the fall it just makes us want to regurgitate. I hope I can remember the feeling I have right now the next time I’m tempted; as for now I think I’ll go stick my finger down my throat.
Jesus told us to pray to avoid temptation.
“Father please keep me far away from gorging like a fat hog today.”
Luke 22:46
Why are you sleeping? He asked them. Get up and pray so that you will not fall into temptation.”
