Recently I sent out some talking points to some key leaders around the country concerning some ideas that I’ve had that can be implemented to reverse the moral and physical decline and decay that is the current direction of the United States of America.
I wrote in part that in order to change America our citizens must first renew their faith in our God and we must pray to Him for forgiveness and repent or turn from those lusts that are rapidly destroying us. Somehow we need to unify the folks in this country who love the Lord to work towards saving our country.
Surprisingly I found that some were opposed to even “attempting” to make a run at fundamentally changing our country, and seemingly desire to see it go down in a ball of flames. It appears that these folks have accepted that we are going to lose America and are preparing for the very worst.
One person warned about the prevailing mindset of this group and it went something like this: “Some speak curses over our great USA; they speak of the future doom of our great USA; and are actively preparing a refuge and/or prepping for it. In some cases they are praying for the Rapture and actually hoping that they are right about bad things soon to happen”.
Indeed some responded to me that they were “wary about mixing patriotism and Jesus” – “We are not called to renew a kingdom (America) of this world” – “God is not synonymous with ‘patriot’”.
The comment that stirred me the most was as follows: “The hope of the world has nothing to do with America”.
Hmmm . . . Like so many people that I know I’ve seen the decline in America and have thought about what I would do if she falls. I’ve looked the world over and tried to find a refuge for my family in a location somewhere in the world whereby we could know the kind of life that we desire; (one of quiet worship, freedom, free enterprise, peace, joy, and love).
God has richly blessed me and if I choose to relocate to most anywhere in the world, with some proper planning, (and obtaining liquidity by converting hard assets to cash), I could do so in a reasonable amount of time.
Most of the time when I watch the news these days I get infuriated to see yet another victory by the atheists where a high school football player cannot say a prayer, or they are forbidding crosses in a military cemetery, or condoms are being handed out like candy to middle school children (as well as books that tell them that homosexuality is an acceptable lifestyle), or sewage is free flowing out of Hollywood and the Internet, or the President of our great country is being named as the person that told the biggest lie of the year regarding keeping our health care; or the divorce, alcoholism, suicide, homelessness, incarceration, addiction, and poverty rates are astronomical, or church leaders are hurting little boys and girls, or corruption is the norm in business and politics, or on and on and on.
It’s times like these that I feel like just packing up and moving to another country where I can start over again and forge a new life where I can protect my grandkids and raise them according to Godly principles in a wholesome environment.
But where shall I go? As bad as America has sunken with its moral decay and decline, I cannot find anywhere on this planet that is a better place to live than the United States, even with all of her moral decadence being at an all-time low. This is a sad commentary on the condition of our country and our world and our refusal to follow God.
Since its existence America has been a shining light and a beacon of hope that has shone throughout the world. What does it mean to other countries when America, a nation founded upon principles like: “One nation under God”, “In God we trust”, and “God bless America”, is the leader of the world.
In times gone by it meant that they desired to come here and be a part of it and in so doing obviously God was glorified by it and many found Jesus Christ.
Today our light is growing dim and there is no question that satan is waging full scale war on every segment of our society and winning the battle. I respectfully disagree that “The hope of the world has nothing to do with America”. I do understand that if given the opportunity this person would quickly add to his commentary that, “The hope of the world is Jesus Christ”. I agree with that statement wholeheartedly; however where this friend is missing the boat is that an America that stands indivisible as “one nation under God” is uniquely positioned to demonstrate to the entire world that the love of God (and each other) as preached by Jesus Christ works!
Jesus said in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world – like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden” – “Let your light shine before men in such a way that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven”. No doubt this passage refers to us individually; however if all believers in this great land shine our lights individually, then collectively they will beam a humongous shining light of hope (found only in Jesus Christ) to a world devoid of it. In my mind there is no question that the many folks all over the world who see that shining light will be guided to the conclusion that, “if it works for them, then it will work for me . . . ”
It defies logic to say that trying to renew America by restoring faith in God is something that God would not desire with all of His heart. It has to grieve the Holy Spirit to no end to see what has become of her, just like it did when Israel turned from Him time and time again.
God will bless our effort and we will find favor in Him provided we will pray to Him, seek His forgiveness, and turn back to Him and away from the sin that is rapidly consuming our citizens and thereby defiling our country. I for one think this is a worthy goal and one which is obtainable. We can return America to a nation that proudly proclaims: “In God we trust!”; to say otherwise is to deny Scripture.

“I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.”
