One time I was trying to sell our sophisticated software system to a little old lady with hair so white it was nearly blue that managed a tiny rural school district. She had no technology background whatsoever and did everything by hand in her role as food service manager.
Our system could automatically analyze a menu plan, compare it to sophisticated tables that comprise USDA compliance guidelines, check inventory balances, automatically order deficient food ingredient items, print requisitions and that was just 1 of our 23 modules.
In my misguided effort to impress her I didn’t take a breath as I rattled on and on for an hour about all of the complex features of this $50 million system. Finally I stopped and looked at her with a wide smile on my face and proudly beamed, “Well what do you think?”
By now she was so overwhelmed by this multifaceted complex system that was so far beyond her ability to use it that tears had formed in her eyes and she blurted out, “My head’s spinning!” Then she started crying!
Huh?
That is how I feel after yesterday’s whirlwind meeting with uber rich, powerful, influential, and potent movers and shakers who know few boundaries when it comes to accomplishing great and mighty things with worldwide implications.
My son and I met so many wonderful Christian people yesterday who are involved with so many sophisticated and mighty works of God all over the world that it was simply mind boggling, overwhelming, overpowering, and vast that my old gray head’s still “spinning” this morning!
I would feel intimidated if it were not for the fact that I serve a mighty God and I know He will help an ignoramus like me muddle through the vast opportunities that were presented yesterday. We left on their private jet yesterday morning as nearly complete strangers at 8:30 a.m. and got back at 1:00 a.m. and were all shaking hands, laughing together, and hugging each other goodbye and promising to touch base as soon as feasible to follow-up! We are now a part of the ongoing efforts of some of their ministries and will undoubtedly partner with some of these people and they will help grow ours.
One time I helped someone I didn’t even know overcome a huge obstacle in their life. It made their task of getting through their difficult ordeal much easier. Unbelievably this person didn’t even bother to thank me.
Even though it happened many years ago I still vividly remember that incident and if this person were to need help again I’d be hard-pressed to find a reason to do so. I don’t want to make that mistake with God or His church, (you). So I say thank you from the bottom of all of my heart to those of you who prayed for this wonderful meeting and to God for answering our prayers.
It is just as important to thank God as it is to ask Him to help us through difficult and intimidating situations. I don’t know what will come from all of this, but these people can make it happen and now I’m friends and bonded with many of them for the rest of life and on through eternity.
Thank you Lord – You go Sir!
Philippians 4:6
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 3:20
Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.
Psalm 35:28
My tongue will speak of your righteousness and of your praises all day long.
