A really good friend of mine recently got a tremendous opportunity with a new company. She hates to leave her current job where she has lifelong friends and clients that know and love her, but she must get out of her comfort zone in order to launch an even bigger and brighter career.
When I initially heard the news I was in shock and momentarily aghast, because she has proven instrumental in helping me mange my media opportunities and I was especially looking forward to her helping me market my new book. I immediately caught myself and felt bad for being so selfish. I quickly stopped what I was doing and wrote her back and sincerely congratulated her on her new opportunity. I already know she will be very successful in it, because she is that type of person.
Well now how do I get on Oprah? I’m not worried about it, “Something will turn up”. My wife was telling someone the other day that we are not the worrying type and all throughout our marriage whenever we would be plagued with overwhelming problems, one of my favorite sayings was, “Don’t worry something will turn up”. While you might think, “That is easy for you to say, you are financially set for life”. Remember I started out poorer than any church mouse, (at least they have a nice warm vestry in which to reside).
I can truthfully say that I do not ever worry. How about you? Can you honestly say the same? Hmmm Jesus had much to say about worry and it was all geared towards our not engaging in it. It is a sin and has to be disheartening to God that we do not put our trust in His capable hands. Worrying sends a statement to God that we do not have faith that He will do as He has promised and take care of us, His beloved children whom He loved so much that He sent His only begotten Son to DIE for our sins. Trust me God will be with us through the end of this world and beyond throughout eternity.
So why worry?
It seems to me that we will only worry if we have not fully put our faith in God. No one in their right mind thinks God is a liar.
Trust me “something will turn up”. It always has for me and Teresa and it will for you. Have faith and be patient. Don’t panic when the battle begins; instead be confident as you march towards victory. The Bible tells us that we should be BOLD in this life and not go through it cowering at every sign of trouble, both real and imagined. Your faith is like a cool breeze on a hot day to our Lord. He will reward it.
So put your faith solidly in the Lord, sit back right now in your chair, put your hands on the back of your head, and breathe a sigh of relief. Help is on the way. Those bills that are troubling you, or those crazy teenagers that are driving you crazier, the problems with that cranky boss at work, or those corrupt, lowlife, self-serving, scumbag, arrogant, patronizing, narcissist politicians, or whatever, just turn it over to the Lord. Do what you can do to resolve the problem and leave the rest to His capable hands.
Ahhhh. Doesn’t that feel better?
Calmly listen for God’s gentle voice as He steers you in the direction in which He wants you to go. Most of all, “Be happy and Don’t worry”. Hey! You can start this program TODAY! Do it….
Psalms 23:6
Surely goodness and mercy
shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I will dwell in the house
of the Lord
Forever.
Something WILL turn up!
