A friend of mine had been working every Sunday for quite some time, years really. In fact he has gotten deep into a rut whereby all he ever does is work. Finally I convinced him to get out of his office and come visit me on my plantation one Sunday. He enjoyed it so much that he came back and then came back again. I encouraged him to quit working on Sundays and just relax and enjoy and worship the Lord on Sundays.

“After all”, I said, “the Lord has designed us to operate in that fashion”. The Bible tells us to rest on the seventh day of the week, just like He rested on the seventh day after His work was done. His Bible is like an owner’s manual. Do what it say to have a longer and more productive life.”

I got an e-mail from my friend this morning and he has decided to start taking every Sunday off and as I suggested devote that day to resting, relaxing, and worshipping the Lord. He told me that after resting for these past few weekends that he is energized and feels far more refreshed this fine Monday and is ready to face the giants.

I wrote him back and congratulated him on his decision. I told him that I know that God has to be very proud of him right now. Just think most people only come to the Lord when they want or need something, or some tragedy has befallen them. Just think how it must make the Lord feel to know that this man has decided to just dedicate that day to the Lord for no other reason than to enjoy time together.

I can relate. People come to me all of the time because they want something. It is so-o-o-o-o-o-o refreshing when they come around me for no other reason than they just want to hang out.

Go to the Lord this Sunday just because you want to hang out. I can see Him smiling now

Exodus 20:8
Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
but the seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your
God. In it you shall do no work
