Well I guess old Jimmy Carter needs to see his name in the papers yet again, now he has gone and called Joe Wilson a racist. Joe Wilson is the congressman who publically called President Obama a liar.
The ex-president says he is extremely bothered and concerned about the heightened climate of racial and other hate speech in this country.
Hmmm. Now I wonder how Mr. Carter would characterize going on NBC News and calling someone he does not even know a racist? Do you suppose Mr. Carter thinks his comments will lower the heightened racial climate? Does he consider what he said “hate speech”?
Jimmy Carter does not know Joe Wilson’s heart and he does not know if his outburst was anything more than what he said it was, (being upset about the President’s comments concerning illegal immigrants having access to our health care system and driving up the cost). And yet Carter goes and calls him a racist on national television. This will surely cause a firestorm.
If Mr. Carter wanted to criticize him for his outburst let him talk about breaching the rules of civility and decorum. To call him a racist is nothing more than a personal attack and is far more egregious than calling President Obama a liar. Jesus warns against judging someone else for his sin when you yourself are sinning even worse.
But what do I know. People hate each other in this country and it is easy to see how we had a civil war. People are too quick to judge others. The Bible has plenty to say about that. In the verse below Jesus was condemning hypocritical, self-righteous judgments of others. I think old Jimmy should put down his little jar of peanuts and read it.
Personally I can’t wait until the Rapture. I wish Jesus would return today. I’m sick of all of this kind of nonsense.
Matthew 7:2-5
For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. Why do you look at the speck of sawdust in your brother’s eye and pay no attention to the plank in your own eye? How can you say to your brother, Let me take the speck out of your eye’ when all the time there is a plank in your own eye? You hypocrite, first take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother’s eye.
