In just fifty years I will be dead and mostly forgotten. Hmmm. That is a weird thought. Many who are reading this will likewise be deceased by then. I was thinking about this situation this morning and I was not smiling, and then I thought of one project that, Lord willing, will be alive and well and live on long after my demise and that is all that it took to put the smile right back on my face. That project would be the Honey Lake Christian Youth Center project.

If all goes as planned I will have it completed sometime next year and kids will begin to enjoy hiking, camping, fishing, archery, canoeing, shooting, horseback riding, wildlife viewing, and taking care of horses, cows, chickens, guineas, and peacocks. In the evenings they will hear about Jesus Christ and sing songs of praise to Him and fellowship with other kids who love Jesus and do not hesitate to tell others about Him. The object is to teach them at an early age that they do not have to get drunk or stoned in order to enjoy life and that there are alternatives to peers who have developed that impression of life.

I am well underway and have picked out the perfect spot on my plantation for the camp and am now applying for permits to build a pond and obtain the proper zoning to build cabins and a pavilion for them to enjoy. I will be cutting some timber and clearing land for a pasture and we are developing nature trails for them to hike all over the place. We are currently looking for canoes and kayaks and a host of other equipment that will be needed. It is a lot of fun and I await our grand opening like a child awaiting Christmas morning.

I did not ever get an opportunity to attend anything like this. A friend of mine told me of his fond memories of attending an old time Methodist Christian campground and what a wonderful time he had there. Many kids came to know the Lord in just the couple of weeks that they spent at that Christian campground.

Hmmm Just imagine young souls being won for the Lord long after I am gone and forgotten, all because I had this idea and established this little project. Pretty cool!

Now it is your turn. What project ideas do you have that will live on far after your flesh runs its course and your spirit goes on to be with the Lord? Think about it. A million and one ideas are out there just waiting to be uncovered that will live on for eternity.

Acts 20:35
I have shown you in every way,
by laboring like this, that you must
support the weak. And remember
the words of the Lord Jesus that He
said, “It is more blessed to give than
receive”.
