The name of the movie in WFTD yesterday is Firestorm after all. Someone incorrectly corrected me and then without checking I sent out the correction, only to be corrected again last night. Sorry about that…
I suppose the people who read this everyday may tire of hearing me speak of heaven. I cannot help it, I really look forward to it. The Bible states that Jesus is preparing a place for us. A wonderful place. It will have many mansions. It will be a kingdom of light. I believe that we will actually feel, as well as see, the wonderful, glorious light of the Lord. Only those people who love God will be there. Satan and his demons will be long gone along with all of their heartbreak and perversion. I try to imagine what it will be like. One reason I attend a big church is I enjoy good music and an orchestra. I look forward to hearing the choir of heaven comprised of the best singers and musicians in the universe joined by angels of indescribable beauty singing hymns and praises. I believe that we will gather together with family and friends and actually feel the music as well as hear it. I imagine a place of unparallel beauty with mansions lining “streets that are made of gold, and crystal clear rivers” flowing throughout heaven. I enjoy seeing excellent landscaping. Just imagine the beauty and aroma of the gardens of heaven. Flowers of every description that never die and always bloom. Immaculate lawns with colors deep and beautiful. We will enjoy a bluebird blue sky that is never dark and threatening. I think the food will be outstanding. I think there will be new colors, sounds, shapes, tastes, wildlife, and knowledge of such interest that we will spend billions upon billions of years reveling in it. I think that Jesus Himself will teach us the mysteries of life and the universe and assign us vastly interesting tasks and responsibilities that we will enjoy.
Aside from all of that, and most wonderful of all, at last we will be finally united with our Father. He will have fellowship with us forever. He has sacrificed greatly in order for us to be reunited with Him in heaven, and we will have fought the good fight and successfully endured a wicked world in coming to, and clinging to, Jesus in order to be with Him forever. We will be there because we love Him, but most of all because He first loved us enough to send His only beloved Son, Jesus to die for our sins. We will have a relationship like none other.
Sorrow, death, sickness, and sadness will be absent. There will be no tears in heaven, unless they come from joyful worship and/or from joyous laughter.
The other side of the coin for those who do not accept Jesus as their savior is total darkness. The Bible states that God is light. Apart from Him can only be darkness. Jesus stated that there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth for those separated from Him. He described it as a lake of fire and brimstone. I have Christian friends who do not believe in a literal Hell. I cannot understand this logic. The Bible plainly states that there is indeed a terrible place called Hell. Jesus spent much of His time describing it and warning us about it. How can you believe certain parts of the Bible, but not this part? Especially when it comes directly from the Holy Son of God! I firmly believe that there is a literal Hell. There may possibly be different degrees of suffering for those who end up there, but the Bible does not state that.
In my puny logic, I assume that there will be special punishment for satan, and Hitler types, but that is conjecture. It is a literal, horrible place for those who go there. I have heard people state: “Well if I go there, at least I will have plenty of company”. There will be many people there, but I believe there will be incredible loneliness there. I believe they will be alone in the dark and will suffer and cry for help, but no one will hear them and/or help them. I do not believe that the people in heaven will be burdened by the lost souls in Hell. I believe that God will blot Hell and those who end up there and their memory from us. Otherwise it would likely result in sadness, and there will be no sadness in heaven.
No one has to end up there. Jesus stands at the door and knocks. He does not want a single soul to end up there, but the decision has to be yours. He awaits your invitation. I urge you to accept it, invite Him into your heart and life, and join me and others for the time of your life.
