Yesterday we met with the folks that produced, directed, and filmed the Christian based movies, “Facing the Giants” and “Firestorm”. I have seen both movies and if you have not seen them, I highly recommend them to you. They will both put a tear in your eye and a smile on your face which is more than I can say about most of that garbage coming out of Hollywood these days. Currently these guys are making three more Christian based movies and have a deal with Sony to distribute them worldwide. Praise the Lord for the work they are doing for Jesus Christ.

It is refreshing to me to see someone making movies that explore the everyday problems of ordinary people and demonstrate how God can work in their lives to help them to overcome their problems provided they will allow Him to do so. Firestorm was a good example. It is a movie about a fireman who was experiencing failure in his marriage. I was not aware of this until they made us aware of it at the meeting, but the divorce rate for firemen is an unbelievable “70%”. The movie is centered about a fireman’s failing marriage and how he sought God to preserve it. What a timely message that this movie carries to our brave firefighters around the world. I am told that entire fire stations of firefighters and their families went together to see this very moving movie.

This movie has grossed more money than any other independent film this year and should reach in excess of $100 million, even though it was produced with a ridiculously low budget and only one real actor; the rest were church volunteers. You will not see these guys or their movies nominated for any academy awards or hear mention of them, because Hollywood does not like movies like this. They cannot hide the box office success however, and more importantly God is taking notice. Who wouldn’t prefer His accolades and blessings versus the acclamation of the entire world?

It was interesting to me to hear the movie director for these movies say that they begin each day with prayer on the set. If they are experiencing trouble filming a particular scene, they stop and pray about it. If they have an important meeting, they pray about it before the start of the meeting. The meeting that I was in started with a prayer and ended with a prayer. Essentially they pray their way through the entire process of the making of the movie and beyond even through the marketing phase. The director stated outright that prayer made all the difference in the world in making the movie. In fact he attributed the success of the movies to it.

Imagine if all of us started each and every workday with our fellow co-workers in prayer. Before each important meeting everyone would pray for God’s guidance and His blessings. If a major problem occurred, the “first” thing we would do about it is pray. We would thank God and we would praise God and we would acknowledge that without Him we are nothing and ask for His guidance.

I believe with all of my heart that our country and our economy would be in far different shape if we would simply take a page out of these movie-maker’s real life script for their lives and business and center our lives and businesses around God instead of ourselves. Trust me the greed, lusts, corruption, and mistakes that are so prevalent in our business environment would fade away like the color on a wilted rose faster than one can blink if we did

To borrow the words of a great song about love: “What the world needs now is prayer sweet prayer It’s the only thing that there is just too little of.”

Imagine….. Now do it!

Phil. 4:6
Be anxious for nothing, but in
everything by prayer and supplication,
with thanksgiving, let your
requests be made known to God;
And the peace of God which surpasses
all understanding, will guard
your hearts and minds through
Christ Jesus.
