I am fulfilling a long term goal next week by traveling to the Holy Land for a two week tour. I really look forward to walking where Jesus walked and praying where Jesus prayed and actually seeing the places mentioned in the Bible. I have been asked whether or not I was concerned for my safety by nearly everyone that I have told that I am going on this trip. I can honestly say, absolutely not.
I believe God has a plan for my life. If His plan is that my life will end on this trip, then I am ready. I am in his hands always, whether I am on the dangerous streets of Atlanta or Jerusalem, or 120 miles out in the ocean in big seas. I am told that it is reasonably safe over there at the moment and I literally cannot wait until I get over there.
I have many friends that would love to make this trip, but will not because of fear. I encourage you to do so. We all are a heartbeat away from eternity and yet we must realize that we are in God’s capable hands and we cannot lead our lives in fear. The exact hour of our birth through demise was decided eons ago and we will not change it one iota through worry or fear. The Bible tells us to live our lives boldly and put our faith and trust in the Lord’s mercy, grace and salvation. God does not want His children to live in fear and the Bible tells us that.
I will pray in the Garden of Gethsemane, visit the Sea of Galilee, visit the Mount of Beatitudes, be baptized again in the Jordan River, and likely weep at Golgotha. My mind will be on the Lord, and not fear for my life. If by chance he does call me home, what better place to be when I get the call?
Hebrews 4:16
Let us therefore come boldly to
the throne of grace that we may obtain
mercy and find grace to help in
time of need.
