I just finished reading a couple of excellent books written by atheists who turned to Christianity after setting out to disprove the Bible. One was an astronomer and respected scientist, the other was a Yale Law
school graduate who became a crime reporter in Chicago.

The astronomer who was influenced heavily by other scientists that God does not exist tried to use science and cosmology as a basis to disprove the Bible.

The Yale Law School grad’s wife became a Christian which infuriated him. He wanted to prove to her that she was wrong and he set out to investigate very thoroughly and his intent was to use historical and archeological evidence to make a legal case for atheism. Unlike Perry Mason, he did not prove her wrong. (The good news is that even though he lost the case he won a place with God for eternity.)

The scientific book that utilizes astronomy and science to make a case for Christianity is entitled: The Creator and the Cosmos and the author’s name is Hugh Ross Ph.D. The other book is entitled: The Case For Christ and the author is Lee Strobel. Both were systematic and very thorough in their original quest, both authors have now become pastors.

I highly recommend these books especially to those people who are “intellectuals” who seem to need additional proof of the Bible, Jesus, and Christianity.

Throughout history many so called “intellectuals” have set out to disprove the Bible, most end up like these two gentlemen and become believers themselves. Another prolific writer who has written extensively under a similar theme is C.S. Lewis. One thing that all of these people have in common is that although they did not originally believe, they were OBJECTIVE in thier thinking and determined to accept the facts as they are, even if it meant that they would end up having to admit that they were wrong.

I believe that this is the biggest hurdle to convincing any doubter of the facts. If they will look at things objectively they will be won over. I can relate to that because it happened to me exactly the same way. I used to be an atheist and did not begin to turn to Christianity until after deciding to read the Bible cover to cover and make up my own mind at the age of 24 .

It took many more years of study and trials of life before I actually came to a point whereby my faith increased to the point that I was “dead-certain” beyond a shadow of a doubt. I certainly do not consider myself an intellectual, but, unfortunately for me, it did take more than someone standing up in front of a congregation telling me what I should believe to become convinced.

If you know someone who is as hard-headed as I was and/or perhaps hard hearted you might recommend these books to them. I believe most anyone who is already a Christian would enjoy them too, although The Creator and the Cosmos is very technical and deep.

One thing these books and other current events make me wonder about is why is God choosing to reveal so much information about how He created the universe NOW. The Hubble telescope and the space program unlocks new evidence daily as do other mediums of science. The sharing of information and the computerization of everything from archeology to cracking the code to how God designed the genetic code of all of life.
My only conclusion is that we are moving swiftly toward the end of time when God will return for His children. I believe that He is making a determined effort to convince all but the completely hard hearted to come to Him now before it is too late.

Call me crazy but all of the biblical prophecies have been fulfilled and the time is right for God’s return. There are too many to discuss here, but for a start, the Jews have returned to the Holy land after being scattered all over the globe for 2000 years, we are in an age of great learning and travel has never been easier. There are wars and rumors of wars, pestilence (AIDS) etc.

As they say in the Boy Scouts, “Be prepared”! I say: come quickly Lord!

The fool has said in his heart,
“There is no God.”
