One of my favorite television shows of all time is Jerry Seinfeld. It is hilariously funny, but in reality one must watch many episodes and get to know the characters in order to receive full enjoyment. I have watched many of the episodes countless times and enjoy them more and more every time I watch one.
What this world needs is more humor. So many people are so deadly serious about everything. It has to be miserable indeed for them. I earnestly do not believe that God intends for us to be so serious and devoid of humor in our lives. To be honest I cannot recall any Biblical examples that serve as proof that God enjoys humor; however a quick look at creation convinces me that he has a great sense of humor. Many of His creatures including some of us are hilarious just to look at.
We have an innate capacity to smile and laugh. The Bible does state that everything should have its time. Spend some time on this and not on all of it on the serious stuff. As with Seinfeld episodes we could probably reap far more enjoyment out of life by engaging in humor more often. Don’t be so serious today. Smile and find something to make you laugh today. Try it you will like it
Ecc.3:1
To everything there is a
season,
A time for every purpose
under heaven;
A time to be born,
And a time to die;
A time to plant,
And a time to pluck what is
planted;
A time to kill,
And a time to heal;
A time to break down,
And a time to build up;
A time to weep,
And a time to laugh;
A time to mourn,
And a time to dance;
A time to cast stones,
And a time to gather stones;
A time to embrace,
And a time to refrain from
embracing;
A time to gain,
And a time to lose;
A time to keep,
And a time to throw away;
A time to tear,
And a time to sew;
A time to keep silence,
And a time to speak;
A time to love,
And a time to hate;
A time of war,
And a time of peace…
And also that every man
should eat and drink and enjoy the good
of all of his labor – it is the gift of
God.
Tis the season
