I read an article on the Internet that stated Britney Spears is in rehab, has shaved her head, wrote 666 on her forehead, screamed that she is the anti-Christ, and attempted suicide. Britney Spears is beautiful, talented, and exceedingly rich, has two beautiful children, owns elegant mansions, and is famous; what is up with all of the bizarre behavior from someone who apparently has it all?
She is learning a lesson about the world, in that nothing it has to offer will bring peace and happiness without God. No I am not judging her but the Bible does tell us that we will know them by their works and Britney’s works as of late do not seem to indicate that she is close to God at the moment. (Writing 666 on her forehead and screaming that she was the anti-Christ gave me my first clues.) Drugs, alcohol, wild sexual encounters, and fast living amongst the beautiful people yields a broken heart that is difficult, (if not almost impossible), to mend and that is about it.
My son asked me what I thought his little twin daughters might do when they are all grown up. I wondered if they might be famous doctors or scientists, or perhaps great professors at a top University. Alas at my age, I will probably pass on to the next life without having this question answered, but my prayers are that they will find God at a very young age and thus find peace and happiness while walking this earth, no matter what their chosen profession. I wonder if Britney’s parents and grandparents wistfully looked at her when she was a baby and wondered the same thing. I wonder what they think about the job they have done as parents now.
I have prayed for Britney Spears this morning. I cannot seem to get this off my mind. How do you think it might make you feel if that was your little daughter caught up in all of this? I look at photos of my twin granddaughters this morning and can only imagine how horrible that might be. The Bible tells us to teach right and wrong and Godly things to our children when they are young and when they grow old they will not depart from it. Children need to be taught that worldly riches will not fill the hole in their soul. Only God can fulfill that need. If we could ask Britney Spears this morning about the worldly riches including the money, mansions, jets, limos, yachts, and fame I’m sure she would tell us that she would trade it all in a heartbeat for the peace of God that surpasses all human understanding. This girl is poor not rich. Richness should be measured by peace and happiness not worldly treasures that will belong to someone else or rot away in due time.
Britney Spears simply does not understand that she can be rich in God free for the asking. If only we could spend some one on one time with her and explain God’s simple plan of salvation to her. I wish I could be her parent for a while and tell her of God’s tremendous love for her.
This is something to consider this morning isn’t it? We might never have an opportunity to share God’s wonderful plan with Britney Spears, but we can with our own kids and grandkids. Please get yourself and your kids in a Bible believing church and Sunday school this coming Sunday and be sure and tell your kids every day that you love them and that God loves them!
Proverbs 13:7
There is one who makes
himself rich, yet has nothing;
and one who makes himself
poor, yet has great riches.
What good is the money now?
