I must sound like a broken record sometimes when I write Words for the Day, because I write about the same subjects so often. Lately I have been writing about the difficulties associated with finding one’s purpose in life and in fulfilling that purpose for God. I very badly want to find my purpose in life and work on the projects that God’ wants me to work on rather than what I’ want to work on.
I have mentioned that once I am on the right track I enjoy peace from God and actually experience joy in my life. I also begin to see God’s blessings in a mighty way. It is hard to describe the tremendous satisfaction and feeling that I get when I start seeing things happen that can only be directed by God. Early this week we went to a trade show and it was the best show we have ever experienced. We were showing some new products that our customers really want and they swarmed our booth in great numbers. Our competitors were trying to play catch-up and it was funny to see them scrambling around spying on our booth trying to learn more about what we were doing to attract all of the customers in a jealous panic. It is too long of a story to tell you how we developed those products and relate all that happened and describe in detail how all of this came about, but suffice it to say that the Lord brought me and other staff together with several other key players (who incidentally also share a love of the Lord) in such a manner as to leave little doubt that He was involved in putting us together at exactly the right time.
I have seen this in business on more than one occasion. In fact the biggest contract that Horizon ever won began like that. I was interested in expanding Horizon to new markets and wanted to sell to the military. The problem was I had no earthly’ idea of where to begin. I’m on a plane sitting next to this nice somewhat elderly gentleman in a suit. We began to talk and I find out he is a three star general stationed in an Army base in Atlanta and guess what? He is commander over logistics including all of food service and food service has been a special interest of his for years. Our plane got diverted because of bad weather and we spent nine hours together which allowed sufficient time for me to receive an education of a lifetime concerning how the military food service program works. He introduced me to some other Generals and one thing led to another and the next thing I know we are being awarded the contract. That General is retired now, but still a good friend of mine; needless to stay he loves the Lord like I do.
I could go on for hours, but take it from me if your heart is right and you are sincere in finding GOD’s purpose for your life, rest assured he will direct you in the right direction. When you arrive, be sure to give Him the credit that he deserves. Remember the Jews as they were being led out of Egypt and God performed miracle after miracle to deliver them. It did not take them long to turn their back on God and start dancing around worshipping a golden calf. They ended up being punished by wandering around the desert for forty years. If they had remained faithful they could have spared themselves some hot days in the desert. Bottom line: when you are going to or have arrived at the Promised Land always remember who got you there and remain humble and thankful to God almighty for working miracles in your lifeI would be nothing without Him and readily admit it.
Proverbs 16:9
A man’s heart plans his way,
But the Lord directs his steps.
