I have been down lately due to intense business pressures and a few problems with a friend. I have not been sleeping well and feel uneasy. I hate this feeling and it often comes in conjunction with not feeling that I am in sync with the Lord’s will for my life. This is the absolute worst feeling and I don’t like it. Unfortunately I do not know what I should be doing differently in that regard, but I’m sure He will reveal it at the perfect time. Until then I remain restless and peace of mind and spirit eludes me.
We are not promised a wonderful little hayride while on this earth.
Indeed the Bible teaches that our days will be “short and full of trouble”. Way back in Genesis because of our sin the Lord declared to all of mankind from that day forward the very ground upon which we walk will be cursed on our account and we will work by the sweat of our faces and “thorns and thistles” shall be brought forth to us. In other words nothing is going to be easy because of our sin. As with all predictions in the Bible this one fulfills itself daily.
Fortunately God had mercy on us and we are not cursed forever provided we accept the sacrifice that Jesus Christ made for our sin on the cross.
When our old bodies finally quit on us and we return to dust, Christian’s spirits will go to meet the Lord and new glorified bodies will be given to us. The curse will be gone and we will know peace for the rest of eternity. Unfortunately those who reject Jesus will remain restless and will be separated from God for all of eternity, forever doomed to a lonely tortured existence in chaotic darkness. What a sobering thought.
The moral of the story is when you get down, don’t get out. We were not promised a picnic, but remember always that the Lord loves you and things are going to work out in due time. The Bible tells us that we experience tribulations for our own good. When going through them it is tough to understand, but we must trust in the Lord. Rest if you must, but don’t you quit.
Romans 8:28
And we know that all things work
together for good to those who love
God, to those who are called
according to His purpose.
